Simon's Bio

A student at the UK's top sports Uni, Loughborough University, Simon is a budding Pentathlete and an FA referee in his spare time. He studies English and Technical Journals for his degree.

Simon is a season ticket holder at the Valley, home of Charlton Athletic, and is a red red robin, through and through!

He is hoping that his articles on the laws of the game, and analysis of refereeing behaviour may highlight areas in the game which require improvement, or at the very least encourage some healthy debate!

Simon has quite a few football related projects on the go. one of his latest ventures is an attempt to get real footballers more recognised for their efforts on and off the pitch: and it starts with Chris Powell of Charlton Athletic: getting him a Knighthood!

For anyone so inclined to vote: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Sir-C-Powell/

On that note, he's off to Charlton! COME ON YOU REDS!

Pele - although I respect Maradona hugely, I fear his "hand of god" counts against his legend status.

  5. Hey Simon,

I'm very sorry to hear about your recent losses through your latest article. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected dearly.

Anyways, on a lighter note, hopefully you can rediscover your desire to come back onto the Bleacher Report. We need you here! This place just isn't the same without your usual controversial rants and articles on Charlton Athletic.

    All the best,

  10. Thanks for the edit Simon

  11. Simon,

Just read your work on the article "A Plea Against Hooliganism," and just wanted to leave you a note to say "nice work." The article itself was very good, but the way you handled the comments that were left was well done - impressive is an understatement. It's very easy to get wound up over those sorts of things, but kudos to you for the professionalism.

Keep up the great work, mate!

    -Ryan

  12. Hey Simon..it's good to be back here..I was so caught up with my daily work that i 4got abt u ppl..

Yeah..Sheikh's back now..thankz for the wake up call!

  13. Must admit I see Millwall and go ouch lol.

    Have a good one!

  14. I had a look Simon and instead of leaving a comment now I figured I'd wait and help you explain our beautiful game to the masses as the comments flow in :)

I have done the first level referees course with SAFA (South African Football Association) and even got 100%...I never went any further though, it was just for a sports course I was entertaining myself with at the time. So I don't have any experience reffing men so to speak.

I referee school games and it's crazy what you see and the reactions you get even from 14 year olds.

    I'm with the refs ;)

Keep up the good work and be prepared I'm sure for dome varied interpretations.

I was sure the 6 second keeper rule was gone though....I tell the little brats to zip it when they call for that one haha

  15. Thanks,I've been told we'll be heading up there in a bit..It will be in the aftermath of a game, the addicks have West Brom..it will probably on Bleacher Report by tomorrow evening for sure..If you want to hear the interview,i think BBC Radio Kent will air it soon..I'm not so sure of the media covering it around London..I will add your question too probably..take care and enjoy your friday game..

    Salaar
