As a child I made three decisions: to be Yankees fan, to be a Jets fan, and to be a Knicks fan. The first one is going great. The second one erodes my soul every fall. The third one is somewhere in between. Along the way I became pretty familiar with those three sports, and I love to read, write, and talk about them. And sometimes play them (watch out for that midrange jimmy--the bank is open!).
How the fuck do you take Mays over Ruth?! you deserve to always be eating eroding cow shit that has transformed into magic mushrooms so your always eating cow shit and tripping hard core!
I'm enjoying it a lot and, with any luck, diversifying my writing ability (no more 10-pagers on Plato's Republic...). It's an intense commitment, but since I already spend so much of my waking life following sports, it has fit nicely into my day-to-day.
Embracing a variety of media forms and getting the most out of them is, as you know, stressed by B/R and it's something I'm starting to get the hang of. A video of one of Geno's plays that exemplified how the Jets are using him would have been appropriate. Alas, next time. I'll let you know if I have any more questions and thanks for the support.
Thanks for becoming a fan, Walker! How are you enjoying writing for Bleacher Report so far? I've enjoyed your work so far, especially the Geno Smith piece a couple days ago. My only advice for that piece would be to involve more media — images, tweets, videos, instagram photos etc... The content is strong, but after the lead photo, it's straight text. It helps to break that kind of article up with media. If you ever have any questions about the site or suggestions for ways to improve it, please don't hesitate to contact me. I see you're doing the advanced program in sports media as well — good luck! It's a terrific program. I actually did it a few years back and loved it. Thanks again!
