John has yet to fill out a bio.
Hey John, are you banned?
Some updates re Daniel’s disappearance can be found here, if you’re interested:
Elsewhere, I feel a need to set the record straight: Shetty’s recent remark about my respect for Indian culture is true. (The article with the relevant post is no longer on the home page, that's why I’m writing here instead). I know many Indian women are treated like 2nd class citizens at home. They suffer privately but stoically from male chauvinism, in domestic situations beyond what you can imagine. So I’m a softy and feel a special kinship with Indian females. But that doesn’t make me blind.
I can see that Shetty could be shamelessly and obnoxiously biased in favour of Nadal and against Federer. Many have good reasons to find her posts outrageous and offensive. But I think she doesn't have it easy at home. To be devious and untruthful is actually a survival skill in Hindu culture. While I’ve plenty of ammunition to contradict her, I see no point in doing that. Her culture teaches that if she chooses to believe 9 > 16, she must not cave in no matter what reasons are put in front of her. Besides, Shetty reminds me too much of my own mother. I just let her talk if deriving pleasure from nonsense is what she prefers!
As for her other remark about us not having anything in common. Go to the above link and check it out for yourself.
Sorry for my belated post here and take care.
I've just posted a story about the global evolution of tennis and the increasing popularity of the sport. I've put a lot of time and effort into it, and I'd be really grateful to get any feedback you have.
If you get a chance to check it out, that would be great.
My last piece before tonight's final:
