Got a question or a good story idea? Send an email to email@example.com. Each week I will take the best questions and throw out an article with answers to some of the NHL's most pressing debates on my website at www.theslapshot.com
Hey Mark, a typo in your recent article: Aaron Varros; should be Voros. Cheers!
Love your stuff, how about something on Kulemin soon? I think he's been the most consistent night in and night out other than goalies!
Hey Mark, was wondering if you could check out my article and tell me what you think. Thanks
Hey, Mark I'll be honest. The techincal side of the site is not really my expertise. I can ask my editor about that; I usually talk to him once a week or so. What do you mean votes, BTW? Do you have a poll? (if you have a poll, I can't see it when I'm doing the editing...so just clarify that for me.)
Hi Mark. Not sure why you're going out of your way to send me private messages inviting me to continue our debate.
"Did you catch TSN last night??? What's the matter, cat got your tongue now???"
No, I didn't watch TSN last night. It might amaze you and some of your readers but I do indeed have a life. The story you mentioned hasn't made a blip on the radar. There's no mention of it in any on-line print edition anywhere. Doens't mean it isn't true, but it clearly indicates that it isn't newsworthy. Ever heard the expression "dead horse"? How about "stir the pot"? Or "overblown"? These are all expressions that come to mind and have been voiced on the subject.
My original objection was to your suggestion that Kaberle would be traded between now and the beginning of the season. I still think that idea is insane. All we can do is wait and see. I'm sure that when the season starts and Kaberle is taking his rightful place on the Leafs blue line you will write a post conceding how off the mark you were on that one and how you ought to scrutinize your sources a little better. If Kaberle is indeed traded between now and the season starting, I won't be writing a retraction, I'll be jumping off a bridge. I'm sure that will make you very happy.
I still don't think there's any serious animosity between Wilson and Kaberle but I guess we can only wait and see how that plays out. I think you're reading way too much into this meeting to "iron out their differences" (your words, not Burke's - he's never said anything like that, believe me I would know) but that's out of my control.
I'm glad you take your writing so seriously. That's a good thing and I'm sorry if I rattled you. Hopefully this will only inspire you to step up your game and stay on your toes.
Lastly, my gift to you is a quote from Brian Burke whom I know you respect and admire. The quote comes out of context and was not relevant to Kaberle at the time, but it does give you an indication of how Burke might react.
"Burke added that parents are likely the worst judges of talent and "have no perspective." "
Hey, Mark. I've been reading some of your stuff lately and I have found it very interesting, intriguing and well done. Keep up the great work!
Just read the new Kovalchuk article. Nice.
so what's your secret...how do you attract readers
Thanks for the like. I'm not posting slideshows on The Slap Shot simply because...well, they're slideshows...but I might be able to put it into prose format with subheadings and post it...
there you go ritter
