Well let's see, I've been reading the Bleacher Report for a while for its diverse opinions and I've always loved debating sports and espousing my own opinion, so when I realized I could join up and write, it was a no-brainer. I grew up watching the NFL and I caught MLB fever when I was in high school, NBA took hold in college shortly after college basketball had carved out its own niche in my heart. I went to UConn so naturally I'm a big Husky fan, and will forever mourn the death of the Big East. I hope you all enjoy my work as much as I enjoy many of yours.
Very impressed with your article comparing Brady's '07 with Peyton's '13
I think it would be interesting to read a Contextual Article
analyzing Pat's in '08 and Cot's '11/'12
I hear people make this argument all the time why Brady is not good.
Because Casell came in and led the Pats to a 11-5 Record
But no one, no sports news sites consider the circumstances.
It takes a much better team to go 16-0/18-0
Then is takes to go 10-6
So the drop off from 18-0 to 11-5 is really more then a 5/7 game drop off.
Also Cassel is a better Talent then Painter, or Orlovsky or Kerry at age 40.
Cassel was a 4 year primery Backup for N.E.
Kerry 1st year F.A. with Colts. Painter 3rd string backup, Orlovsky 1st year F.A.
Each transition between a QB is going to create additional challenges to winning.
The Patriots had 1 consistent backup for the whole year. Adds to lends to winning.
Also you can analyze what they did after their time with teams.
Kerry retired. Orlovsky backup for T.B., Painter backup on N.Y.
Cassel on the other hand became a Starter at K.C.
lead a 2-14 team in two year to 10-5.
Also Cassel's Stats in '10 further prove he is a capable QB.
3000 yards, 27 TD's, 7 INT's (Peyton has never thrown less then 9)
Even Peyton has gone 10-6 one year
and then had a drop off to 6-10 (in '00 to '01)
So going from a HOF QB to 3 Different QB's
2-14 is not that extreme.
Also it was widely considered the Colts were tanking for Luck.
The "Suck for Luck" campaign seems to be forgotten.
Considering what each team had to play for.
The '08 Patriots for the Playoffs
The '11 Colts for the #1 Draft Pick
Lastly in '12 a Rookie Luck joined the team,
with basically the same team Peyton had in '11,
When Peyton led them to a 10-6 Record,
And Luck Improved that Record to 11-5
Would really like to read your take on this.
But I really liked your article.
can you do an article showing the 2007 patriots schedule vs quality of opponents vs 2013 broncos quality of opponents? I honestly think that Brady's quality of opponents and strength was a lot harder imho.
I know you guys will win. ATL stinks this year.
I fanned you BTW. And also the Falcons are gonna beat you. Just prepare to lose, `kay
Sup. Pats fan I see.
Thanks for replying. Ya I actually wanted the Patriots to pick him after watching lots of film prior to the draft. I was pleasantly surprised when they snagged him and I hope it works out.
