The state of sports journalism is at an all-time low. Whatever happened to objective analysis, research, proper spelling and grammar, or integrity?

The athletes and teams we enjoy are held responsible for what they say or do and are expected to be accountable for their actions. Isn't it about time that we demand that these gossip-mag sports columnists, analysts and so-called "experts" adhere to the same standards?

Beginning 8/1/08, anyone associated with a network, publication, the NFL, or is compensated for their work will be participating in the inaugural season of Lie-Gate: The Oakland Raiders League. I hope to expand this idea to include the rest of the league down the road, but for now time limits me to reports concerning my favorite team. I will post more details about the rules and purpose in the week before.

    Thanks, I appreciate hearing that.

    The fact is, I write most of my articles to get a laugh, not to make people made. I have been writing on the site long enough to know that the Raiders fans seem to have the greatest numbers and be the most outspoken, that is why I wrote it about them.

    I easily could have used the Dolphins, Falcons or Lions, but I chose the Raiders, because it got a response. It's good to know that there are some fans out there that don't want me dead and for bad things to happen to my mom. :)

    Thank you for the concrete evidence proving me to be a "liar" and "new at this." With such irrefutable proof such as me being called "stupid" and a "nit," I must now admit that my factual argument has been "shredded." I now realize that the 49ers have sold out every game since 1981, including preseason, and that the Raiders moving to LA in 1982 has nothing to do with this. This is because you have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the "Raiders have the worst fans in the NFL and receive no support."

    Being called "ratdroppings" has also forced me to admit that there has not been a single empty seat at Monster Park during this sellout streak. There is nothing I can do to dispute this "fact." The thousands of empty seats broadcast live in HD during several 49ers games I've watched since 2006 blow my actual attendance argument out of the water. So do the thousands upon thousands of empty seats I witnessed while attending the 49ers and division-rival Rams last November.

    I was a "fool" to think watching the Raiders on TV or attending their games during this span and seeing virtually every seat filled for 14 out of 16 regular-season games- although 2 of those games were still blacked out because the "worst fans in the NFL" didn't fill the stadium until gameday- indicated that "actual" attendance averages were actually higher in Oakland than SF.

    My "lies" reached a pinnacle when I insinuated that I may be involved in an actual ongoing study collecting and comparing actual attendance figures for both teams. I'm really glad I didn't state that both teams happen to be looking for new stadiums and these figures provide the most accurate analysis of attendance. You already forced me to see that attendance figures based solely on tickets sold is the only way to measure support and that my argument was "weak." There is also absolutely nothing to the notion that the 49ers now have season tickets and mini-packages readily available to the faithful, when up until very recently there was a 6-year wait.

    By stating that I was unable to provide these "false" statistics on actual attendance, I totally lost all credibility on this site. No one will ever take me seriously when I spread my rumors about the Raiders enjoying a steady increase in season ticket, luxury box and overall support each year since taking over their sales in 2006. Or the ludicrous idea that attendance figures and support have been on the decline since 2004 at Monster Park.

    I am ashamed that I ever suggested that the Raiders have enjoyed a higher number of fans actually going to games than the 49ers since 2006 and specifically stated that this figure has nothing to do with tickets sold. There is no basis to this argument whatsoever, and your presentation of facts and analysis to the contrary cannot be ignored. I just hope that you and everyone here at Bleacher Report can forgive me for being such a "lying idiot."

    Mike 49er: Wow, looking at that link, you seriously wrote that many replies to one comment, yet still had absolutely nothing original or new besides funny names and personal attacks? That chapter is closed. Take a little time to cool off; I understand it must be frustrating to be exposed as a fraud. You aren't used to someone calling you out on your remedial debate tactics and exposing your use of irrelevant stats to back up fictitious statements.

    I would LOVE to post for you the official documentation regarding ACTUAL attendance numbers, but my work prevents me from doing so. Go ahead, call me a liar, blah, blah, blah. Make up a funny "Rat" name and pat yourself on the back. But I can assure you 100% that you have been presented with FACT, and that your stats you continue to cling to are meaningless when you visit both stadiums and see first-hand the proof. However, there is thorough research that has been and is continuing to be done on physical attendance at both stadiums for reasons that are pretty obvious. And no, I don't work for the Raiders, or the NFL and have no obligation to report one way or the other except to inform you that your opinions regarding fan support are off-base. Argue all you want, but since 2006 the Raiders have had more fans show up for games (just to reiterate, this has NOTHING to do with the amount of tickets sold, but people with those tickets actually GOING to the game) than the 49ers. This is referring to 8 regular-season games; preseason is not part of any study.

    You are honestly a pretty talented writer in many ways and seem well-educated. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that you are interested in objectivity or discussion. I won't bother commenting about you personally or your team and I will not try to defend anyone. Call me any name you want and twist your stats however you need. I won't argue or respond anymore on this subject. The proof is there. Much of what you state as fact is false and that has now been proven. I can't force you to acknowledge that and that is not my goal. My goal is to expose any lies or inaccurate statements you make about the Raiders or their fans and offer a fact-based rebuttal. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and there are plenty of valid points you can discuss about the problems in Oakland. I most likely tend to agree with many of them.

    But I am tired of misinformation and rumor being spread as fact about the Raiders, with no-one being taken to task or being held accountable. Your comments are just a result of what is constantly regurgitated. I will continue to call you out when you tell lies, but I am far more concerned with the writers, reporters, networks and publications where all of it begins. It's a small step, but I hope that dispelling these myths and drawing attention to those who propogate them will encourage others who are fed up as well to take action and stop the tabloid-style gossip that is being passed off as objective journalism. That being said, I'll be working on an article over the next couple of days for you tear apart and refute, so get your rat names ready!
