My name is Ben, I'm a 20 year old rising sophomore at Saint Louis University. I am an avid Cardinals, Colts, and Tim Duncan fan. Yeah, that's right: Tim Duncan, the least entertaining, but still one of the best players in the league. You can contact me at bweixlmann@stlsportscenter.com

Hey big dog,

First off, I don't know if we should be necessarily applying heat on writers. I know I personally am moving to school in a couple days so I'm EXTRA busy. I know others are starting school too. Plus, look at your own writing. The Olympics are big right now. It'll pick back up, and I know my writing will increase once I get settled in at the 'Zou.

Try combining two of the same into one Cardinal+Cardinal= 2 Cardinals in one.

Take a day off, grab a beer at a place with a big screen or two and chill...alone.

Alone always allows you to reacquaint yourself with you...alone is when you think a while and say to yourself "i wish I hadn't written that, or maybe said it that way." and you're thinking and brainstorming and you're getting some outside stimuli and you see something out of the corner of your eye...BAM! The perfect piece drops in your lap.

Amazing how it works.

Take a pad and pencil with you though ;0)

Well, you earned your props with quality writing.

This POTD piece by Alan Bass may be good for you top writers but it's dangerous for the 13, 14 and 15 year olds that are just learning their craft here or some 50 something guy like me that hasn't written in 35 years.

I give you this from Mr. Bass;

"Every article needs editing, no one is perfect. But there are people who just...it's not worth the time to edit their article cuz I don't have all day. That's who I am talking about."

Is that how you were handled when you joined?

There are people on here who are clueless, they can't write a lick...until they are edited, see it and go...oh yeah, I got it now!

You can't wholesale censure/censor these people or you'll lose that one in a hundred gem that's hidden out there somewhere.

You top writers, community leaders, you're not going to make a living here on B/R, you're going to write for a contracted news/sports outlet somewhere. You may remember the B/R but it will be just that, a memory.

When some kid asks you "How can I get started as a sports writer?" what are you going to say? "Well, I started on B/R but it's not a place for rookies anymore."

When you guys leave, leave something behind for the kids, the little guys, the rookies and the hacks, leave them a place to learn. Don't lock us out.

Have your articles been edited recently to show that Bleacher Report is wanting one sentence paragraphs? I don't know what's going on but it seems like all of the interns are being instructed to edit articles to make them really short (one of them admitted this to me actually).

I really don't like the look of it because to me it destroys the flow of the article. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Great work, Ben. One piece of advice that received is to make the questions more broad, and to have questions based on game scenarios.

Examples:

"Do you support the move that La Russa made in the seventh inning when he pulled ... and put in .... What would you have done in that situation?"

Ben, in reading your comment on the Cardinals article, I looked you up and noticed you have only been with BR for two months but have already wrote over 100 articles? Wow, that's amazing. Did you have some of these previously written for another source or did you write all of them from scratch? I thought I've been busy with about 90 in 4-5 months but that is unbelieveable dude.

The B/R team are looking at creative ways to get the new writers involved,any suggestions from our top writers would be invaluable...

We are considering a poll of topics which our top writers could vote for as the topic for the Round Table Discussions,However,all that is for the future..

Phew! The 3rd Round Table has been published and now we're on course for our forth one...
This time the topic is :

"Who do you think is currently the World's best holding midfielder or CDM?".

Example of these are Viera,M.Diarra,Mascherano,Gattuso,Makelele,Hargreaves,Gilberto,Edmilson etc..pick from these or choose your own but it has to be a holding midfielder..a striker,winger,defender,attacking midfielder will NOT be accepted..

Ben,
Thanks for the read, Craig Krenzel was a little bit harsh. Boeckman is a lot more talented than Craig Krenzel, he's got an above average arm and some very solid footwork. He'll be a third round pick in 2009 and he'll make somebody's roster as a back up. Remember, with the exception of Stafford there are no other established pro style quarterbacks in college football today.

Bradford, Harper and Harrell are all guys coming out of shotgun centered, short passing offenses and the history of players like that in the NFL is not a very good one. Drew Brees is the only success story coming out of a spread styled offense. Alex Smith, Vince Young, Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman are more the norm as of late.

Check out the NFL starting qb spots, every successful qb but Brees played in a pro offense in college. Boeckman will be among the top 5 qb's drafted in 2009, he's less of a project than some guy who puts up big numbers out of the shotgun.

Looks good Ben, I guess I echo Bob's comments. I was unsure on the last question, but that is minor. I like the layout of this, it is a different style than some of us, myself included, have presented. It definitely breaks out each person's comments. Also, one thing that I do, is to link each persons name to their profile page. Not sure if anyone clicks them, but I think it is a cool way to link someone to a writer if they like/dislike their comments.

Anyway, I hope Pujols' injury is minor, that could really hurt. Not sure if the lineup could keep up w/o him in there.

The roundtable is a good idea, I've done one but not on a regular basis. I think I might take your lead and start something for the Cubs. Anyway, I like your format of presenting the questions first then having each person show their answers by number. That works good for me. Really, the only constructive critism if you want to call it that, is your third question, "Who deserves it more: Albert Pujols as a starter or Ryan Ludwick as a reserve?" - I wasn't sure that you were referring to the All-Star game or what? But other than that, and maybe some spacing improvments for readibility (nitpicking here), good job Ben!

Hey Ben,

It's based more on percentiles than anything else—I believe the top 5% of writers on B/R are "Senior Writers."

Qualitative accomplishments (# of articles, comments) are not the only thing that are considered but are definitely a major part of the equation. Keep on trucking, you're bound to get there soon!

Make sure to check out our Writer Rankings description to make sure you're doing everything you can to keep your rating high. From glancing at your portfolio I'd say right now the biggest gap between you and most Senior Writers is # of comments...
