About

#1 Rule When Attending A Baseball Game: NEVER leave during a rain delay. You will miss out on a lot of fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been many places, but my heart's in San Francisco.
The rest of my body currently resides in Cincinnati.
For starters, I love baseball. LOVE baseball. I've played since t-ball, and I am still trying to (though those days might be over—a bigger school and a fractured humerus will do that)
I'm a college (and major) roamer, 3 years and 2 different colleges (and 5 majors, don't ask how this is even possible).
Luckily, I started college early, so I should graduate around the normal time anyways.
I most recently landed in a small college in Iowa, where I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play baseball at the collegiate level; unfortunately, this doesn't cover the tuition bills, plus, Iowa is fairly boring.
So now I'm back in Cincinnati, writing for Bleacher Report, because a) I love baseball and there is a lot to be found here, and b) It's a more constructive use of my free time than huffing glue.
As to why I like the Giants, I was born a Giants fan. My dad got my name from Brett Butler (just prior to my birth was the '89 World Series), but liked the way Saberhagen spelled it. I'm not entirely sure why my dad was a Giant fan, but he was, so I was, and that still holds true today.
If you want to contact me, you can email me at covlatbb@yahoo.com.
Short List
  • Favorite Athletes
    Barry Bonds, Tim Lincecum, Joey Votto, Carson Palmer, Brett Butler (the Giants version), Jay Bruce, Connor Barwin, Matt Williams
  • Favorite Sports Teams
    San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bearcats, Cincinnati Bengals,
  • Favorite Coaches
    Roger Craig, Brian Kelly ——— I am not a big fan of coaches in general unless they actually teach their players... and that is not done often enough.
  • All Time Sports Moment
    Barry Bonds hitting #756...
  • Most Memorable Game Attended
    The UC football team upsetting Pitt last year (storming the field after winning is REALLY fun, everyone should try it sometime) —— also the game where Adam Dunn hit the ball into the Ohio River, over 650+ feet away (one bounce)
  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record
    Most Grand Slams in one inning (2, by Fernando Tatis-- there is no way anyone will ever hit 3), or Johnny Vander Meer's 2 consecutive no-hitters (again, I cannot even fathom someone throwing 3 no-hitters in a row)
  • Ruth or Mays?
    The Say Hey Kid for me... but Ruth was far and away ahead of his time
  • Unitas or Montana?
    Johnny U is the greatest quarterback ever. Period.
  • Jordan or Russell?
    Jordan was more complete... but Russell was more dominant
  • Pele or Maradona?
    Pele -- didn't need his hand(s) to be legendary
  • Federer or Sampras?
    Federer has more titles, but he has been, all in all, bad for the sport of tennis... it's not much fun to watch when you know the ending.
    Heya Bret, I've just posted a new top 10 list, "If athletes were items around the house".
    Who is the toilet brush, the flat screen TV, the cockroach and the Seinfeld box set?
    I'd be grateful to hear your input.
    Hey, I just completed my second article on Duke Football, trying to become a Duke Football Featured Columnist. I preview the Top 5 Offensive Players to keep an eye on in 2009. Since I am trying to become a FC, please leave any feedback that you can, what I should do differently next time, things I can do to improve the article, etc. Thanks in advance. I appreciate the support!
    The Yankees have put together an unbelievable streak of magical wins, but is Yankee Stadium and its short right field porch New York’s “magic wand?” Can sitting back and waiting for a solo HR really translate to October success?
    Thanks in advance! I would love to hear your feedback and comments. Take care.
    Yeah. I would've been fine with getting Sanchez, just not for Alderson. Being the big Giants prospect guy on the site, I definitely feel like I got hit in the gut. I don't understand. His walk totals are something you put up on your PS3...not real life.
    You'll see tomorrow when I post my reaction to it.
