Thanks for your comment. We feel that Bayless and Mayo have higher ceilings that what Lopez can bring. Lopez may turn out to be a good NBA player but his value and ceiling is not as high as player with Bayless's or Mayo's talent. We both do not think very highly of Lopez. Minnesota might draft him due to need, but that would be a HUGE reach if Lopez was taken #3 overall. If Minnesota really wanted Lopez, I'd hope for their sake that they would trade down and take him later on in the first round and get more out of the #3 pick. The latest mock draft from Chad Ford that came out today had Lopez dropping to I believe the 9th pick citing "Teams love size but they don't see Lopez as an NBA star". This was something that Randy was convinced of when he saw Lopez play at Standford. He's was a great player at Stanford but there are a lot of things about his game that is troubling to him when he comes into the pros...mainly his lack of athleticism, his awkwardness around the rim and his average rebounding ability. Thanks again for reading.
The latest mock from Chad Ford had:
Speights going 16
Robin Lopez going 20
Roy Hibbert going 23
DeVon Hardin not drafted in the first round.
Randy's point was that there are a lot of other big men in the draft that may be comaprable to Brook Lopez. There are not a lot of dominating centers in this draft. If you look at the talent among the big men in the draft the gap is not a large as Mayo/Bayless versus someone like Brandon Rush or CDR.
Thanks for your comments.
