The Dallas Cowboys at 1-1: A Halfway Point to the Preseason
08/28/2009
There is not much about my history as a fan that makes sense to other sports fans. I tell people who question my allegiance that I am a product, as so many other sports fans are, of one of my parents. Namely, my father. He has been a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan since the days of Landry, Staubach, and the famous Doomsday Defense. He was also taken in by the New York Knickerbockers of the late 60s and early 70s. So now my two favorite teams are his two favorite teams.
I am however not only a football and basketball fan, but a fan of all sports. Liverpool FC is my Premier League team, and I also happpen to enjoy the Philadelphia Flyers.
If I do not particularly enjoy a sport from the get go, I do my best to become knowledgeable about it, because I find that to be the best way to start liking something. That is the way I first started watching baseball, soccer, hockey, golf, and tennis. But since I wasn’t raised on those sports I find it decidedly hard to root for a particular team which is why for most of them I don’t have one team I like more than others (Hockey and Soccer the exceptions).
Most people find it odd that I root for teams all over the country and even in rival cities (depending on the sport), but I like to think of it as a great way to diversify!

DeleteSince all else has failed, I see no reason for the Knicks not to sign Allen Iverson.
