Giants a Favorite to Land Brian Urlacher?
March 30, 2013
My name is Doug Rush. I am 29 years old from Toms River, New Jersey.
After four years as the Featured Columnist of the New York Giants and New York Yankees, I have decided to leave Bleacher Report to pursue other options in sports writing.
When I first joined B/R in 2009, it was a no-named website looking to break out. Now that it has, it continues to not pay their writers, and at this stage of my life, that is completely unacceptable. Yes, for four years, I basically did this for free, but in hopes would land a full-time paying gig because of my long-time loyalty. Guess the higher-ups saw differently.
So now, as of March 2013, I will be writing for Giants 101, www.giants101.com, covering breaking news and feature stories solely on the New York Giants.
I leave B/R as their #1 Yankees and Giants writer by an extremely wide margin, an accomplishment I was very proud of, but got unnoticed when it mattered most.
For the fans who followed my work for four years, I thank you all for your support and hope you continue to follow me on Giants 101 (if you're a die-hard fan, you should already be clicking the link to go there.)
Some of my accomplishments from B/R include:
First joined Bleacher Report- June 19, 2009
New York Yankees Featured Columnist- December 23, 2009
New York Yankees Community Leader- March 17, 2010
500,000 reader views- December 19, 2011
New York Giants Featured Columnist- February 4, 2012
1 million reader views- June 25, 2012
New York Giants Community Leader- September 14, 2012
December 2012: over 200k on MLB stories
December 2012: over 200k on New York Yankees stories
2 million reader views- January 7, 2013
Left Bleacher Report- April 12, 2013
Doug, I got curious about where you went. I read your updated profile and got my answer. I do not know how B/R makes its contractual decisions and I have no idea who is compensated for their work and who is not. Nevertheless, I want to thank you for all the excellent reporting and analysis that you have given on the Yankee page. All the best. You are already missed.
Thank you, Doug.
You will be missed. Unlike a lot of the others here you were a good sport about the heckling and always seemed to be pretty fair and unbiased in your reporting.
I'm actually not going to be posting here for too much longer, if you can believe that. Like yourself, the fun has kind of run it's course and it's time to move on to other things.
I sincerely wish you the best.

P.S. Regardless, ...Everyone is still laughing at the NY Yankees!
Rumor has it that you were driven off the site by a troll named Goon, who continuously tormented you for four years.
Any truth to this rumor?
We're going to miss your articles, Doug.
And yea, I used to write for Bleacher. This is a pseudonym. Their operation is pretty douchey.
Great work in the month of March, Doug. 400k reads is unreal. Keep up the solid coverage.
thought you would get a kick out of this story in the Onion.

Thanks for the shout out Doug! I enjoyed your piece, although, as a Packers fan, I would love to see Urlacher end up in the AFC.
Sorry for any confusion.
Nothing was posted when I submitted my story. Always more than one side to every breaking story...
