Are offensive players fined as much as defensive players?
This would be an interesting research topic because if they aren't then it seems to me that it is an excellent incentive to push younger players away from playing defense...rational people respond to incentives etc.

Here's an idea for an article.
"How will JH handle his maturation as the 49ers head coach?"
-getting rid of players that help build the success of the team particularly if the team wins a championship or two?
-the loss of coaching/management staff that plagues winning teams?
-I'll let you and your editors come up with the third and more topics/questions.
I was never pleased with the way Montana, Lott, and Craig were treated when their time with the 49ers came to an end. And I wonder how JH is going to handle it particularly if he gets a player/qb he seems to connect with in the way BW and JM did.
Maybe I live in my head too much and others here at the B/R won't find this line of inquiry interesting.
