Is Pete Carroll's Charity Work a Hindrance For The USC Trojans?
11/21/2009
I just recently received my Masters degree form Cal State Northridge and am considering the pursuit of my PHD in social studies/history. Along the way, I have developed a passion for USC football, which I have followed for more than twenty years. In a somewhat less myopic state of mind, I also follow all things college football and most sports in general. My other passion is politics and I am very involved in following the day to day workings of the Washington DC movers and shakers. Now single after my ex-fiance got smart, I have decided that my next relationship will be with a woman who matches my interests or can share me with the things I love. In the meantime, I will get along following the things that make me happy.
I agree. It's great when head coaches use their influence and position to start charities, and no one should ever knock them for that.
People never cease to amaze sometimes. Geesh, even his down years are up years for most places. Next question that should be asked: Pete, are you...
Anybody who actually thinks that the charity work is what's hindering Pete Carroll obviously doesn't watch the rosters. I'll tell you what is wrong with the...
Those caller are the same type of fans that criticize a coach like Lane Kiffin....Hypocritical. Most coaches are narcissistic a-holes who are only interested in using...
Trojans will be fine, don't let their record fool ya. Frosh QB can slow any team down. Next year they roll, right to the National Championship...
Arrrrrgggh..the editors messing with my style.
Fight On! is always capitalized. Always. "Conversation Changer" (now 'conversation changer') is the name of the article I've been saving up for a USC-SEC bowl matchup.
I dunno. Does that happen to you? I replied to the editors and asked that my work be allowed to stand on its own, for better or for worse, warts and all. Well see. In my experience editors, like yours truly, are a bit narcistic and labor under a vanity that won't allow them to let good enough be.
I hope you enjoy the article just the same. There's a couple of nuggets of information there that you may find interesting.
All the best,

Ummm...oops. USC's linebacking corp looked green. Too much McKnight; not enough Bradford and for goodness sake, Blake Ayles needs to sit. He personally cost the Trojans 14 points tonight. There's also a not-so-flattering picture of him giving Notre Dame fans a bi-lateral single finger salute on deadspin.com. Not his finest hour then nor tonight.
The silver lining: If, and it's admittedly a big if following a 27 point loss, but if USC can win out and go 10-2 there might be a very intriging story line out there. If Florida and Bama go undefeated and then Florida wins the SEC-championship, Florida will play in the national title game. If it's against Oregon, fine, let's see the Pac-10 take it and USC may or may not play in the Rose Bowl, maybe against a 12-0 Iowa team. But if not, if Oregon has to play in the Rose Bowl, then Bama might get a match up with USC in the Sugar Bowl.
Very interesting story line there. USC v. SEC. Top two programs in the country in terms of most bowl victories. 120 teams, only 2 share the top spot with 31 bowl victories each: USC and Bama. Time to give Pete Carroll a month to prepare and an opportunity to take it to an SEC team. Could salvage an otherwise disappointing season.

Hey Rick,
I just completed the second of a three part series between myself, Mike Kline and Justin McTeer, breaking down the Duke Blue Devils basketball season.
I highlight the back court of Duke and the different players that will need to contribute to the team. If you get a chance, check it out.
Feedback is always appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Rick,
Keep writing and posting articles, Rick. Those nuts near the end of your "Sunday Musings" article have no business being behind a keyboard. The personal attacks is really a disgrace. The infant with the "prison cred" makes him look like nothing more than a wannabe looking for someone to listen to him.
Take it from me, most guys in the can don't brag about it and certainly don't advertise it online. Hey, even me and Carson had a moment of reprieve there in your article for just a second, so it's all good.
Keep writing. This Trojan will read your articles anytime!
