I have just recently received my Masters degree from Cal State Northridge and am considering the pursuit of my PHD in social studies/history. Along the way, I have developed a passion for USC football, which I have followed for more than twenty years. In a somewhat less myopic state of mind, I also follow all things college football and most sports in general. My other passion is politics and I am very involved in following the day to day workings of the Washington DC movers and shakers...but my first love is sports and, as such, motivates my meager attempts at prose.
My boy Sarkisian got the job
Ok Rick, now you have to admit: Ed Orgeron is not the answer. Jon Gruden, Chris Petersen, Jack Del Rio, James Franklin are the guys for this job.
Football is a game and Family is forever. God Bless! JH
Thank you Rick. The respect is mutual. Enjoy this weekend and have a great Thanksgiving with your loved ones!
I wrote an article about Ed Orgeron, I would like to know what you think.
All the Coach O talk but don't you think the one coach you don't want to get away is Coach P. He is the mastermind behind this defense. Look what Monte did before him. Coach P has the same athletes and he is kicking ass. He was good at Cal only because of the lack of talent. He has been great at USC because he has the talents.
I think you need to get the Coach O as HC and Coach P as DC package. That is why I am against Del Rio who will bring in his defense.

Hey Rick Delete or Read Either way...thanks for all your hard work...
USC DREAM SCENARIO
Oregon state beats #5 Stanford and solidifies it’s spot atop the Pac-12 South and the #2 Ranking in the BCS going into the PAC-12 Championship
Stanford reeling from their loss to Oregon gets shocked by a motivated USC team.
USC rolls off 3 straight Wins, along with an Upset over Stanford to climb into the BCS standings.
Arizona St wins 2 taxing wins against strong teams in Utah and Ore St. and prepares to meet up with
UCLA who has won its last 2 games for a matchup of two teams in the BCS top 15 and the Defacto PAC-12 South
Championship. UCLA wins in double overtime to move to 9-2 and a top 10 Ranking.
Meanwhile BYU beats Wisconsin and enters to BCS top 25 for it’s matchup with N.D. Two 8-2 Teams.
N.D. Dominates the game against BYU and gets a legitimate win strengthened by the fact that Texas goes on to win the Big-12, a team BYU had beaten earlier.
Stanford and Notre Dame two top 15 teams going in different directions meet up. Stanford is desperate for a solid win after two deflating defeats against Oregon and USC, followed by an hollow victory over Colorado. In spite of the win it still resulted in them dropping another ranking. Stanford regains some of their Mojo, gets the lead, and gets the win over Notre Dame, dominates on the Ground. Ending their season in the Top 10.
It all comes down to the final week in the Pac-12. Top 20 USC vs. top 10 UCLA both remarkably have a chance to win the PAC-12 South, and get the bragging rights that go along with it. If UCLA wins they Secure the PAC-12 South, a feat the Trojans would love nothing more than to deprive them of. While USC still has a chance with a victory and a Arizona St loss, to secure their rightful place atop the South Division.
AND USC DOES IT. On 4th and 1 with time running down, Silas Redd busts through the line all the way into the end zone for the Win. He Leads the USC band in Victory, relieved of the burden and doubts about his decision to leave Penn St.
After the game he says “I will always love Penn St., but right here, right now. It’s just great to be a champion!”
The thought of winning the south fade with a Sun Devil victory. Securing a Oregon, Arizona State Champoinship.
But nothing can sour, what the Trojans have accomplished through the season. At 10-3 USC actually has a chance at a At Large Birth.
After the college championships shake out, USC finds itself among the top 10. And headed to the Rose, on January 1st where they belong. To face the Undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes. Many people arguing that Ohio State should be in the National Championship over Oregon. That it is only Bias against Jim Tressel and the perception from that Era, that kept them out. But the Trojans but that debate to rest with their best game of the season, winning the Rose.
While Oregon becomes the Undisputed final BCS Champion over Alabama. Making amends for their slip up against Auburn a few years before.
The Pac-12 goes on to Sweep Their Bowl Games. USC finishes in the top 5. Suddenly USC again is the Trendy Pick.
Many people arguing that the way USC finished the Season they could have beaten Oregon. For the first time in years,
Committed recruits defect to USC at signing day instead of the other way around and USC finished with a top 5 recruiting class to go with their top 5 Ranking. Coach O, the Trojan C.E.O. is retained as the head coach. During the press conference he can’t talk, overwhelmed with emotion, tears in his eyes and his throat. All he talks about is his players, his kids, the family. Afterward you are left wondering was that a coach, a fan, a friend or a father? And the answer is Yes.
Rick why did you have a (Rant) regarding ref's at SC VS ND game? Thought you we a Trojans fan? what happened to you?, are you mad bro! or did you switch teams on us are now sucking on ND's nipple now. What gives!
Great Article Rick. Since you aren't big on Sarkisian, who would be your top 5 picks for the next USC coach?
