I have just recently received my Masters degree form Cal State Northridge and am considering the pursuit of my PHD in social studies/history. Along the way, I have developed a passion for USC football, which I have followed for more than twenty years. In a somewhat less myopic state of mind, I also follow all things college football and most sports in general. My other passion is politics and I am very involved in following the day to day workings of the Washington DC movers and shakers...but my first love is sports and, as such, motivates my meager attempts at prose.
Thanks for your article about JoePa. I have him listed on FB as one of the two men I admire most, ironically the other is Major Dick Winters, also a Pennsylvanina who we lost in the last year. JoePa was the first one to step forward to express regret that he had not done more, it seems no one else has. He deserved more that is certain and there will be a reckoning with the BoT that is certain. Those in the Penn State family never said he was the Omnipotent Demi-God as so many outside our family seem to think. We recognize that he was a man who strived to do the best he could and do what he thought was the right thing.
I know it was tough to choose five surprises, but omitting Curtis McNeal from the surprises? He definitely must be there, probably ahead of Wiley. Would you have ever imagined he would gain 1,000 yards, and on so many powerful inside leg-drive runs and/or long runs? And not get badly hurt? Remember, the heading was "biggest surprises", not "added most value". He was very valuable as well, of course, but that becomes more of a debate as to whom USC could most easily have done without.
Hey good buddy . Its me "M" . I got banned and had to change things up to come back and keep it cool (er) ..lol.. thanks for the article man. ALWAYS good to read ya
Hey rick, it has been a long time since you last posted a recruiting bulletin. I would enjoy reading another one in the near future as I am sure others would also. Hope to hear about the all mighty USC recruiting trail sometime soon!

Hi Rick,
In case you haven't seen it, there is an online petition going around calling on NCAA President Emmert to reduce the sanctions against USC in light of the revelations coming out of Miami. Feel free to sign it, pass it on and to make it known to as many friends as possible. You can add it to your articles, re-tweet it or whatever. Just get it going!
