    Barry,
thanks for the compliments. i enjoyed your last piece. i unfortunately don't share the same outlook for 09 as most tiger fans but really think 2010 and 2011 will be championship run type years. i still see the tigers dropping 3 or 4 games this year which won't be good enough to top bama or ole miss. it wouldn't matter anyway UF should repeat as least as SEC champ.

LSU is the only team out of ole miss, bama, UF, and UGA that has to face all of those teams on the 09 schedule.

my advice on making a name for yourself is to keep wiriting. the more you write the better your skills will get. next, show your personality in your writing. otherwise you're just another guy behind just another sports article on a sports website. when people like you they return to your stuff and look fwd to your pieces.
lastly i don't ever post on profiles to generate reads but i'm not against people doing it to me. but i do post on editors profiles in order for them to look at and edit my stuff.
i swear by mosang miles. he's a great ed who will make your articles better. and edited articles are more likely to end up on the team page and the college football page.

after you stick around long enough, and show not only to be a good writer but a guy involved with the lsu football community and willing to help your fellow writers, they may ask you to be a community leader. i'm not currently sure if there's anyone else but me right now, but LSU can stand to have another leader.

let me know if you need anything else. and btw, my latest stuff is no where near my best. i was asked to write 3 articles a week in the off season and it was just too much when nothing is going on. my stuff last off season (b/c it wasn't all LSU related) and last season is more like the real me. everything i've written since feb i 'm not necessarily proud of.

also if you really like basketball there aren't too many LSU basketball writers. when that season is starting up later in the year ask some of the coll bball community leaders how you become a community leader for basketball because the LSU basketball community needs some growing.

    thanks!

    Barry,

I got your message. I was actually reading your article at the time and thought it was a great piece. I think LSU is going to surprise a lot of people this year. Too many 'experts' have decided that Ole Miss and Alabama are going to be great this year mainly because they had good years in 2008 and they 'experts' general look for surprise teams to progress in the following year. I personally think they both caught a few breaks they shouldn't have and their success was over stated. Ole Miss was probably better than Alabama with signature wins v Florida, LSU and TTU. Moreover, they (Alabama, Ole Miss) have a lot to overcome in 2009, as you pointed out in your article, and will NOT be as strong v LSU as many think. I personally think we will run away with the West, beat Georgia convincingly and have two absolute Battle Royals with Florida to determine who gets to dominate the NC Game. (I'll be happy with a split as long as we win in Atlanta)

Thanks for enjoying my Articles; I like your stuff as well. I tried to pick your Glory article for AOTD but I have some setting that will not allow me to post comments or select any of the POTD, Great Comment or other ancillary options. (If you can help me figure that out I'm listening.)

As to getting recognition on this site, I'm trying to figure that out as well. I'm an old guy who just loves LSU and enjoys writing a few articles. I'm not too serious about trying to make a career out of it and I don't seem to get a lot of recognition. I had one article that got over 4000 reads (3000+) on the day I posted it and it didn't even make the front page of CFB, much less the BR front page. There seems to be a select 'old guard' that get's all the features, no matter what they post, and believe me, some of it is crap! I've also seen several posts with some of the regulars decrying the practice of seeking recognition by posting links on other's message boards, etc... I'm not sure why they lament as I thought that was the intent of this blog but again, I'm just an old guy with a hobby.

If I can figure out how to post and pick I'll give you my vote for AOTD when you post (unless you post something crappy.. :) and will recommend you as a community leader to one of the editors. Do the same for me from time to time. (Except the leader part, I probably would not be able to put much time into that)

    Thanks again - SM
