Score is 17-14 Cowboys, 16 seconds left in the game. Sheer determination knows no obstacles, not even the harsh conditions of the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. Quarterback takes the snap. He sneaks over the goal line. Touchdown! The Packers win the 1967 NFL Championship.
I was just a kid then, too young to realize I was witnessing history. But the fierce level of competition displayed when Bart Starr conquered what’s now known as the Ice Bowl left a mark on this young sports buff that remains even today.

These days it’s the roar of an engine that gets my blood stirring the quickest. A NASCAR junkie, I’ll watch any motor sport where a driver puts the pedal to the metal. Those that twist a throttle are pretty darn good, too. Whether it’s on a concrete oval or off-road course, it’s got my heart pumping. From an 800 hp Trophy Truck to a 25 hp Briggs & Stratton, if it’s telecast you’ll find me glued to the TV screen. Yes, even the lawnmower races!
By day, I’m a business writer. But I shed the vestiges of economic, technology and consumer news to allow my alter ego some time in the spotlight playing the role of sports writer wannabe!
