Petty was a great driver and nobody will ever approach his win total, mostly because of all the good teams and drivers that are around today that weren't around in petty's day. Back then there was maybe a half dozen guys who could win consistently as opposed to today where the number is about 30. It also helped petty that they raced twice a week so he had a lot more opportunities to run up that win total. But Earnhardt is who made NASCAR the big bucks sport it is today. He was a real fan's driver. He always drove to win or wreck not just get the best finishing position as possible like a lot of today's drivers including Junior. He was a one of a kind and NASCAR will never be the same and my interest in the sport has continued to wane since his death. When he was alive I watched every lap of every race. Now I only watch every once in a while, mostly Daytona, Talladega, Bristol, etc. All these mile and a half tracks they are running on nowadays make for boring racing, I can't stand to watch the races at Long Pond or Fontana, big yawners.
As far as college football playoffs are concerned I am not in favor of 16 team playoffs. If you look at the rankings for the last 25 or so years the 13-16 teams are nowhere near the quality of the top four. You will have a lot of 4 loss teams in the playoffs and the first round will be too watered down. I personally favor a 4 or 6 team playoff with the teams selected after the conference championships are played. That really makes it an expanded field that way. Six teams gives teams and conferences the incentive to play championship games as opposed to avoiding them just to get in the playoff as the top two teams will get byes. Once you get beyond the top six teams for the most part you are not really talking about teams that have proved themselves worthy of the championship throughout the year. Football is not the same as basketball where the Cinderallas can advance mostly only to the final 16 or 8. A few have gotten to the final four but none have actually won the championship. Football is a sport where the opportunity has to be much more earned.

lol. Maybe one point in time in my life or another, but not anymore. I'm a loadmaster and operations manager in the field of international air cargo. C-130's, 747's, MD-11's, you name it. It carries me off to different places all over the globe, and my residence in the states often changes because of it. Location is everything in this line of work. Lifes a sweet candy though isnt it? The most important thing, is just to keep trying all the different flavors.

Your right about Earnhardt too. There will never be another "intimidator" and I don't feel his story has been told right in cinema. At least not told well anyway.

Also, I want you to know not every guy on here would assume your posting based on "listening to your boyfriend" just because your a female. My mother was a single mom, raising my two older half brothers and I. She was seasoned firefighter on the oil rigs of Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk, and Barrow Alaska. Shes a big sports buff and wouldve knocked any one us boys senseless for making a comment like that. You asked if I wasn't used to having any decent looking women in my life... I was raised by one. This is woman who was drop dead gorgeous, wanting my many, but perfectly capible of saving any one of their asses in a burning fire, and takes no ++it from nobody. I also agree with you. I'm all for a playoff. I'm considered extreme by most on my opinion that it really needs to be a 16 team playoff though. 11 conference champions and 5 at large. Just my opinion.
