I had a 29-year career in newspapers, the last 15 of which were as a golf writer. I've covered the game from the local, amateur level all the way to the professionals. I've covered the Masters, US Open and PGA Championship. Haven't been to the Open Championship, but that's on my to-do list.
As a life-long resident of western Pennsylvania, my only golfing hero is Arnold Palmer. He lives part of the year in Latrobe, just 10 minutes from my home.
My interests in the game definitely include its wonderful history, as well as appreciating how the game has evolved and how it continues into the future.
I love to play golf and, as a result of my job, have had the opportunity to play some of the best courses in the country. I can't say I've conquered any of them, but enjoy the challenge every time I tee it up.
Writing about the game allows me to take readers to places they may never get to experience as well as putting my particular spin on the issues of the day.
Hello Mike. Would you be able to announce on your golf show that the Ligonier Valley High School golf team will be hosting a golf outing on Saturday, July 16 at 1pm at Champion Lakes Golf Course? Unfortunately, with a budget of only $600 for 18 players, we are forced to fund-raise in order to make participation in the golf program at the high school an affordable experience for many of our athletes. The fee of $80/golfer or $320/foursome includes golf, cart, beverages, dinner, skill prizes, a car for a hole in one, along with a silent auction and raffles. Your help is greatly appreciated. If anyone needs any further information, they can contact me at 724-309-8337 or firstname.lastname@example.org. They can also visit our outing's Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/1702178696692539/. Thank you for your help. Al Gaiardo Head Golf Coach Ligonier Valley High School
Mike, Rory McIlroy has four majors, not three
Add to the comment below... Stanford - anyone heard of Tom Watson - 39 wins, 8 majors. GA Tech - Duval - 13 wins and a major. Not even that big a fan, but was able to pull those out of my head. Should be a little embarrassed that this made it to print...
Your article on best PGA Tour Alumni has some Major Gaps..Pun Intended..Florida: Andy Bean, Andy North and Gary Koch..Andy North won 2 Majors Andy Bean has the Most wins of any Florida Alumni and Gary Koch's not too shabby either(but you mention Dudley Hart..Really?:)..Do some research next time..Please!
You've earned a fan.
Martin Kaymer already has two majors.

Obviously a Tiger hater. Why do we have to hold him to a higher level? For gosh sakes, he still finished just 4 back with a 2 stroke penalty and an unlucky hit of a pin. He had 4 birdies on back 9 today. He beat all the top guys in the game except the winner. He is still number 1 in the world and has come back from being so far down. You give him C? I dont get it. He didnt win but he played pretty well. Must have to finish only 4 back. If he deserves a C then Phil should get an F MINUS.
And Tiger isnt making excuses. He even said "everyone can say shoulda woulda coulda on Monday but it doesnt give you the win."
You hate Tiger. I get it but dont be so obvious.
