Born and raised in the boro of Brooklyn. In my youthful 30 years on this Earth I have seen the very best and the very worst of this city. Jimmy Breslan said it best, "New York City, the city that I love and hate equally". This ofcourse, includes the New York Mets. I am lucky enough to remember the 1986 World Series and begging my dad to let me stay up late to watch the games. Unfortunately this also included the heartaches I have endured since, including the early 90s, Game 1 of the 2000 World Series, Game 6 of the 1999 NLCS, Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS (I guess you get the hint!). Anyway, I can remember a time when the subway was riddled with graffiti, the trains had no A/C, Times Square was nothing but a dump full of undesirables and trendy neighborhoods in Brooklyn such as Williamsburg and Bushwick were one level below war zones. I have seen what gentrification has done to my city and, like Breslan, I love it and hate it equally.
