Mike's Bio

I'm a 22-year-old lifelong resident of the state of Michigan. I'm currently wrapping up my undergraduate in journalism with a minor in history from Western Michigan University.

I'm a passionate dude; I love sports and my teams (Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons, Lions and WMU sports). I'm a bit of a homer, but I can shy away from that when I need to.

I spent last year as the sports editor of the Western Herald, WMU's student newspaper. It was one of the most challenging jobs I've ever had, but it was one of the best experiences of my life.

My ultimate goal in life is to become a sports columnist and host my own sports talk radio show. If I'm not working in the sports world, I won't be happy. It's a huge challenge, but one I'm ready to take on. The industry is dying, but I'd rather be broke and content than rich and depressed.

I just wrapped up an editing internship with Bleacher Report. Currently, I'm interning in the sports department at WWMT-TV, the CBS affiliate of the Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids, Mich. region.

Although my b/r internship is complete, I'd be more than happy to read over stories and give feedback. Feel free to drop me a line, or provide comments on my pieces as well. Good or bad, I love sparking debates and hearing from everyone.

  1. The Lions face a huge foe on Sunday against the world champion, Pittsburgh Steelers. A win isn't likely, but is possible. Here's how the offense can help.
