    Apologies for the blast promotion, but this is less about getting my article out as it is about getting this kid's story to the masses.

    He's been facing long odds since HS and continues to prove he belongs—having just been drafted by the SF Giants in the 36th round. Now, he's got another improbable climb to the Show, but he sounds like the kind of guy we should be rooting for:

    Appreciate the fan add and welcome to B/R.

    If you list Cal and the Giants as your favorites, you get one in return. You can guess where I stand on the Gents and my younger sis went to Berkeley. So, despite my requisite distaste for the fine institution due to my alma mater allegiances, the Golden Bears get a pass from me ;-)
