Onalee graduated from Rhodes College with a BA in English in May 2009. She is currently living in Boise, ID working for the Boise Hawks, short-season, Class-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs as the media relations assistant. She continues to pursue a career in sports media.
Onalee had her first taste of sports media as the sports writer for her high school newspaper, but has since rekindled it with internships with ESPN radio, the ABC and NBC affiliates in Memphis, the Mississippi Riverkings, columns and a tenure as sports editor with her college paper, and game reports for Memphis Sport Magazine. She is also a member of the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM).
In the spring of 2008, she had the unique experience of covering the St. Louis Cardinals' Spring Training over her spring break. After succeeding through an experience where she was the only female and also the youngest media member by about 20 years, Onalee is determined to break into the business.
