Harry's Bio

I like baseball, I like numbers. So I blog about the Chicago Cubs and PITCHf/x. My other interests include technology, reading, and worrying about the Syracuse Orange.

  1. Hope you're looking forward to game two of the NLDS! Here's my take on Chad Billingsley for the Dodgers:

  2. The problems here stem from the fact that these articles are automatic blog feeds, which sometimes give our servers trouble. Some points to keep in mind when you edit:

    1. Always delete any pictures that appear in the body of the article. All articles should have only one image--in the primary position above the text. Use the "Choose a different photo" button to make changes here.

    2. Most formatting issues can be manually fixed--i.e. you can delete and reinsert line breaks between paragraphs, or eliminate unwanted indentations. If you ever get stuck on a formatting problem, copy the article text, paste the text into MS Word, use "Select All" to delete everything in the Editing Module, then paste the text from MS Word back into the Editing Module. This will reset the underlying HTML code and give you clean text.

    3. The HTML strings in teasers can be eliminated by deleting them and entering new text. Let me know if there's any confusion there.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted if you run into trouble going forward, and thanks again for all your hard work.

  3. Hello Harry. As community leader for the Cubs page, let me first of all say I am encouraged by the work you're doing for BR - keep on producing good Cubs articles!

I am engaging some of my best writers on some ideas of how we can make this community even better. What I'd like to do is a couple things. 1) develop an idea for a group article? for example, I was thinking we could do a 'who wins each MLB division, wild card, playoff series & world series? Perhaps we could have one writer each take a division they want to work on. Would I have your support?

Also, I've got the go-ahead to start up a contest with the winner receiving one of those cool BR shirts. I'd be interested in your ideas on a possible Cubs-related contest.

Finally, I'll be searching the site each day for articles that don't belong on the Cubs site (ones that are tagged inappropriately). Your help in pointing these out to me is appreciated. I'd also like to know your e-mail address if you don't mind. Keep up the great work! If you know of any other Cubs fans who want to join BR, please recruit them here! Thanks!

  4. Thanks for the add Harry.

Keep producing the good stuff on the Cubs.
