Thanks for reading and commenting on my article, Chris. Sorry, I have to disagree with you but the Islanders, in spite of their glorious past, are on the endangered list. It all depends on how much more Charles Wang is prepared to lose money. The survival of the Islanders depends on a new arena and Wang's patience and time are running out with endless negotiations with Long Island officials. Bettman has urged a new arena and allowed Wang to play an exhibition in Kansas City to move things along. The Kansas turn-out was disappointing but a Quebec franchise with a new arena and sure sellouts would be just what Wang wants if he can't reach a new arena deal.

DeleteThanks for responding again, Chris. I've heard of the Queen's-Brooklyn development and that would be a more suitable place for the Islanders to go if the new Lighthouse Long Island project fizzles. But the NHL sanctioned the Kansas City game to test the market for Wang to transfer the Islanders there if necessary. Queen's-Brooklyn would be a better moving choice but you cannot entirely rule out the Islanders leaving New York and Quebec with a proper arena, a certain money maker, would be a much better choice than Kansas City. I hope the Islanders stay but leaving New York is a possibility until an arena deal is signed either with Long Island or with Queen's-Brooklyn.
