About Marco »

Hi, my name is (who?) Marco Radenkovich, a 21 year-old senior at Marquette University. I'm studying to be a Operations and Supply Chain/Finance double major. (Yes, no sports in my major) - I feed that monster by "working" for Marquettehooops.com, a scout.com site. I have appeared on MUTV, MURadio and run my own blog - marcoradenkovich.com. I love the site, love "most" of the people that write, and I love the fact that people live and die by every MU basketball game at Marquettehoops.com. It's the closest thing I've found that compares to my Cubs.

I'm from a suburb of Chicago, where I played baseball, basketball and football for 2 years. My sophomore year, I ruptured tendons and ligaments in my throwing (right) elbow, and was forced to stop playing sports. I couldn't stay away, so I joined my school newspaper, became an editor/photo editor and loved every minute. When they said i'd need some kind of elbow replacement surgery to continue playing at a competitive level, I decided to forego that route of my life and take up a new one.

I came to Marquette for many reasons; great business school, WONDERFUL people, and it was close enough to home (1.5 hours on 94) but yet far enough away. I wanted to go somewhere out of high school where nobody else wanted to go (came from a public school, and I only knew a few people at the university). My ultimate dream was to work in a front office of a major league team. So, I'm currently trying to break in, somehow, to Doug Melvin and all his guys in Milwaukee. I need a connection, haha!

But since I could walk, baseball was my love, and so were the Cubs. My grandfather, who speaks VERY little english, got me hooked on WGN and the Cubs during the day when my parents worked. Along with my grandmother, he watched me and we spent hours watching Mark Grace split gaps and Sammy Sosa hop around the world. I've since combined my knowledge i've learned on the field with my great passion for baseball statistics into writing, and am working on multiple blogs. I live and die with two things in life...my Cubs and the Warriors, and I cant stand to see anyone "bash" them without using anything more than bitterness.

Lately, I've become a huge baseball fan that will discuss anything about any team. My close friend and I are in the process of starting an MLB draft blog, where we profile different amateurs. I love to chat baseball, and will write articles about many teams from today until my fingers fall off.

Unlike some writers that throw garbage out on this site without a thorough, in-depth discussion about the consequences of a deal, I've thrown a new article out there for discussion that I'd love your thoughts on. I respect your opinion (more than many), and would welcome your input on this piece:

One more idea for you... this one I'm interested to get your feedback on because I think it sets up an interesting domino effect of situations. I would love your thoughts.

I agree with almost everything you said in your response.

I think Jim Hendry, when he signed Bradley and intended to bat him 4th between Ramirez & Lee, put Bradley into a position we would agree wasn't suitable for his skill set. Since he's been moved up to 2 in the order, where his skills belong, he's blown up. But to have both Bradley & Fukudome doing the same thing - on base and no homers - after the efforts Hendry made to bring them in, the average fan see that and screams bloody murder.

Additionally, while I agree that the Cubs are going to have to keep Bradley unless (God forbid) they simply release him after the season, I don't think the fans will ever warm to the guy. He's playing as well as any batter in baseball over the last three weeks, but he continues to do stupid things like the hand gesture last night. If he had hit the home run and gone back to the dugout, he gets cheered. But he makes a hand gesture, and what are we seeing on replay today? the ball leaving the yard or his hand "talking back"?

I don't see this marriage ever working, and it could spiral similarly to the Jacque Jones situation, except it looks like Bradley might at least produce while being baseball's Terrell Owens.

For as much as we disagree about numbers (at least in our arguments; we agree on their usefullness and value), I would love your feedback on my latest piece regarding Bradley's comments about the Chicago fans.

What do you think the Cubs do w/ this idiot after the season?
