Courtney Lee, Bradley, Jason Terry, Jeff Green, and Brandon Bass all can generate offense. This year, there are players who can actually run with Rondo, so I'd expect more points from those players and for the bench players to take the offensive load (and minutes) off of Pierce and KG. The reason the Celtics were so reliant on KG and Pierce this year was the team's lack of depth, especially in the postseason. In the ECF, the first guy coming off the bench was Pietrus, who failed to qualify for the Team France in the olympics. They were all pretty much scrubs. Now that they have depth, as well as one of the best distributors of the league in Rondo, the age of Pierce and KG are less important because they will be giving quality minutes. If you have depth, those guys aren't going to be playing 35+ minutes a game. And because of depth, Rondo's development, and Doc's coaching, I don't think they'd fall any lower than 3rd seed.
Your logic for the Knicks making it to the ECF is flawed. You talk about defense on the Knicks like they're the best defensive team. The Heat, Celtics, and Bulls all have better defense than the Knicks, and Woodson is a crappy offensive coach. Last year he just put the ball in Melo's hands and the first round against the Heat was really hard to watch. If the Knicks do some how make it far, I'd think it's Jason Kidd who would bring leadership to the team. The comment about how Melo performed well last time he went to the olympics says nothing: correlation is not causation. Also, how would the Nets end up being 4th seed? All they did was add Joe Johnson. I think both the Knicks and Celtics are better teams than that Nets team.
