About David »

I was born and raised in Albany, NY and still consider it home to this day. I was always a huge sports fan growing up, pledging my allegiance to the Yankees, Giants, Siena Saints, UNC basketball and Florida football. All those teams now take a backseat to the Buffalo Bulls.

Though my heart remains loyal to these teams, there is a part of it that roots for the little guy. Underdogs, mid-majors, non-BCS schools etc. receive my fanship. This is why the March Madness is my favorite part of the year; to watch schools nobody knows about knock off big-time athletic universities is, in a way, to watch the little guy beat "The Man". I also support organizations that have very little experience with winning. It is easy to sympathize with those teams that do all the right things but struggle to win on a consistent basis. So go Utah, go Boise State, go Buffalo Bills, go Chicago Cubs and all the other underdogs.

I also despise numerous teams. I will never root for Duke basketball, Notre Dame football, the Red Sox, Syracuse anything, the Dallas Cowboys, the Detroit Red Wings, among others. I probably hate Notre Dame the most. Their "higher than thou" attitude when it comes to schedule teams, their TV contract, and their religious and conservative ways really have no appeal to me.

I am going to be a senior at the University at Buffalo, though I may be staying an extra semester. I am a Communication major that is also looking to acquire a Journalism certificate (because UB does not have a Journalism major). I am the Senior Sports Editor for UB's student periodical, The Spectrum. It is wonderful to follow Turner Gill and the football team and Reggie Witherspoon and the men's basketball team while they attempt to clinch MAC Championships. During my time with the school paper I've had the chance to speak with the aforementioned Gill and Witherspoon, Jim Calhoun, Louis Orr (former Seton Hall coach now at Bowling Green), Dionte Christmas (Temple bball star), Mark Price (UTEP Football coach), Trevor Scott (former UB Defensive End now on the Oakland Raiders), etc. I have also been published by the Albany Times Union, where I held a summer internship and got the feel of the business of an actual daily newspaper.

Eventually, I will be going to get my Master's in Journalism while striving to be one of the lucky ones that makes decent money reporting on Sports.

I'm mainly worried about hacks to content, which would leave the soup tasteless , and bland!...you know?

THIS IS YOURS >> Judah, who is ranked No. 8 by The Ring magazine, is now a Mayweather Promotions fighter. He has intentionally put himself behind the eight ball once again by demanding that the fight be fought at the Jr. Welterweight limit of 140 pounds.

THIS IS MINE>> Judah—who is ranked No. 8 by The Ring magazine and is now a Mayweather Promotions fighter—has intentionally put himself behind the eight ball once again by demanding that the fight be fought at the Jr. Welterweight limit of 140 pounds.

SO, Tell me why you think yours flows better, if you are a real editor then you should know what you are doing right?

Short sentences lack feeling.

Short sentences are meaningless, and noneffective in terms of visual, or a dramatization-effect—which is essential when writing for effect; especially in regard to boxing, a sport which deals with so many different emotional nuances, on so many different levels.

*See the difference in those two examples, now which one is better do you think?
