If Fields starts, i think Ross can eventually become the starting SF because Ross is MUCH more talented than Fields, and that is very obvious. His offense is far superior than Fields' and his defense is very strong.

The opinions of those unable to understand the basic ideas of grammar generally mean very little to me, and I have to say this is the case here.

Vince where was field's ghost the last 10 seconds of game 4 in the Heat series when he played great defense twice against D Wade after Wade walked around Amare like that never happens. Fields' defense was the difference in end the end as the Knicks finally won a playoff game. The knicks had lost 13 of 14 playoff games up to that point. Fields is good all around player, unselfesh with a high basketball IQ. Can't say the same for Smith who plays no D, jacks up shot after shot til he makes one and dribbles too much running the clock down. Yes Field's production went down after the Melo trade but name me one player's who production went up. Fields' assist and steals went up from his rookie year but his possessions went down as did the entire team's especially when Woodson took over. So I guess his role was to play D and pass the ball to Melo as Woodson demanded. The question is will Woodson be creative enough to let the point guards get everyone involved or will we be in isolation city again. I see a Hawks team all over again now that he similar plyers to play that system. Woodson only found 9 shots for Novak( nba best 3pt shooter) the entire Heat series and failed to figure out Heat's defense on Melo until game 4.

I don't think Ross is THAT strong. I saw a lot of PAC 12 games this year and saw him in the summer league. I think he'll become a good player, but until he guards the Wades, Allens and other top guards you don't know how good he'll be defensively. Fields is much better than you realize. The Raptors system of more ball movement and making decisions on the fly fit into his basketball IQ more than the isolation system the Knicks ran. I"ve seen him fill up the stat sheet many times against good nba players.

Since your into sports. What University is called "The Cradle of Coaches" and is one of four colleges that has produced a Super Bowl MVP and American President? Hint it's not a bobcat and October 27th 2012.

If Fields starts why do you think Ross could move into that position.

I agree Raptors could be sleepers. With no real superstars they can learn to play for eachother at both ends of the court. They added more defense and more movement. I think Fields can thrive in a system without all the iso's the Knick's had last season. I'm not sure the raptors realize what they have in him yet. But if they move the ball I've seen Fields fill up the stat sheet. He's real good at making the right decision on the fly as long as the floor is kept spaced. It's a good pick up though people don't see it right now.

Hey John, Don't bag on Fields he played his best when Melo wasn't on the floor and Woodson wasn't the coach.( Averaged 11pt 6reb and 3asst at the height of Linsanity- Melo out hurt ) ( 1st team all rookie and rookie of the month twice before Melo came ) ( the only small forwards that averaged more rebounds than Fields before the Melo trade was Melo and LeBron ) After the trade the Knicks stuck him in the corner and his possessions went away. The ball stayed in Melo's hands. As a matter of fact it's probably in his hands right now. Fields is a good all around player who has been underpaid, now he's overpaid it will even out. Woodson didn't want him on the team and didn't even mention his name after the great defense Fields played on D Wade in the last 10 sec of game 4 in the Heat series that got us our only playoff win in 14 tries. Knicks are the Bobcats of the playoffs, 8 games over 500 with Melo in a Knick uniform and 1-8 in the playoffs with him. The Denver trade fallout has us following a superstar who has the worst playoff winning % of any nba player in the last 20 years and when has Melo made any players around him better. ( not never ) Now that's truly unforgiveable.
