Eric's Bio

I've been a die hard fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins since I was old enough to understand sports in general. I went to my first game when I was 5 years old, and have been hooked ever since.

I watch the Steelers because you really can't not watch them if you live in Western Pennsylvania. I cheer when they win, I get a little down when they lose, but ultimately, football isn't my sport so I generally keep my opinions to myself.

I long for the day the Pittsburgh Pirates return to relevancy. I also long to win 9 billion dollars in the PA lottery. Wish #2 seems much more likely these days.

Like a typical Pittsburgh sports fan, I hate all things Philadelphia, most especially the Flyers. I'm usually not the typical run-of-the-mill writer when it comes to sports, so if I say something to offend you or your team, please don't take it personally. Unless of course that team is based out of Philadelphia, then by all means, do take it personally, because it is.

The Patriots are cheaters and Bill Belichik ranks in the top 10 on the list of most obnoxious human beings, right below Mike Emrick, Eddie Olcyzk, Pierre McGuire, Mike Milbury, Terry Francona, John Stevens, Ted Leonsis, Chris Osgood, and every legal citizen of the city of Philadelphia and its' surrounding areas.

Golf is not a sport, it is a hobby. Golfers are not athletes, they are people who excel in their hobby. Hitting a ball and then walking for 5 minutes to find it is by far not a sports-related activity.

So basically, I live and breathe Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. You can check out my blog at : www.pensevolution.blogspot.com if you have absouletly nothing else to do with your life, but if your expectations are high before you click the link, you will be let down.

Unlike most other people on the site, I'm not going to list my numerous articles that have been featured on other websites, or brag about how sweet I am. I do this for fun, not to make a name for myself.

If 12 Penguin fans read my articles and like them, that is more of an accomplishment to me than if 12,000 random jokes read them and they end up on some big-time sports website.

My favorite words include "joke" and "whoooooooooooo" and I over-use them on a regular basis, usually when I feel a real response is not warranted.

Books are a joke. Go watch a movie.

I live by 5 letters: WWGRD?

Q: What's the difference between Marian Hossa and the Joe Louis Arena??
A: Only one sells out....

To the Washington Capitals and their fan base, I offer two numbers, separated by a dash, symbolizing two decades of dominance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs: 7-1.

Max Talbot for President of Philadelphia. Whoooooooooooooooooo.

Whether on ICE or on GRASS... We'll Kick Your Ass. Pittsburgh, 2009. The City of Champions.

LET'S GO PENS.

  1. The "Farewell to B/R" storyline is cliche'.

It's more fun just to disappear for a while, then sneak in through a back alley and cut rival's throat or stab a back on occasion...then slip away, whistling in the dark.

  2. Balloon boy was hiding in his attic just like Hossa was hiding from the scoresheet during the Stanley Cup finals.

  3. I'm back on hockey!

Please take a look at my latest article documenting Tim Thomas' rise from nothing to become one of the NHL's premier goaltenders when you get a free moment.

    Thanks,

Got your note about Fantasy Hockey. I'd be happy continue with a second season but my only concern is with that league's ridiculous scoring system. If I had any complaints, that's what I'd like to change (or at least alter) because I think it had the right ideas but just put way too much emphasis on certain things. Maybe something like this..

Goals = 2 points, Assists = 1.6 points. PPG = 0.4 points (a bonus really), PPA = 0.2, SHG = 0.8 points, SHA = 0.4. GWG = 1 point. PIM = -0.2. Shots, Hits, and Blocks are all worth 0.2. Then all the goaltending categories are ESPN standard (5 points for win, 0.2 for a save, -1 for goals allowed and 3 points for shutout).

Maybe try a format of 3 C, 3 RW, 3 LW, 6 D and 3 utility for the lineup. The couple utility men give a little room for versatility.

It'd be nice to have a full compliment of teams too instead of half the teams not active.

  7. Hey I wrote an article about my take on the Erin Andrews video scandal. Take a look when you get a minute. Thanks.

  12. Hey Eric. I think about the Penguins victory every day. I knew they could win the Cup. It's funny how so many in the sporting world think the Pens stole something from Detroit. Pittsburgh willed themselves to the series. We're right on schedule for more Cups!
