Unfortunately that's what most of these top writers do—accumulate reads without caring for actually putting in the work. They view their hours spent writing as more important than time spent "writing," if you understand what I mean. If only the editors were assigned specific sports, so that people who knew more about basketball, for example, could check for quality control, then that problem would diminish. But that is not the case. There is quality control, but it is not sport-specific and so there can be some issues. As for the people writing in the tennis section, if they are Featured Columnists FOR the tennis section (and not FC's that tackle tennis when they know nothing, which is my biggest concern) they generally know what they are talking about. I don't know if they all bring something new to the table, but they know tennis. There have been a couple FC's that have yet to ever introduce themselves to me, which is a mistake and leaves them with the lack of credibility. If you have any other comments or questions for me, you could write on my bulletin board again or drop me a message. Thanks. -Jeff Cohn
Thanks for the continued props on my articles. I've had to limit my writing because of the flood of what we call "mercenary" headliners--those who put out regurgitated points that are meant only for reads and lack analysis. Anyway, it's a sore spot for those of us who love to think more deeply about tennis, so I've often put in my two cents with BR editors to find ways to promote better quality... I hope you enjoy what promises to be a great summer of tennis!
Can you join the WARRIORS BANDWAGON?
Appreciate the support on my profile page. Really, it's great to converse with the BR Community about tennis. We all bring in varying perspectives and it's fun to bounce these around with the sport we love. Gotta say as well that your tennis passion and insight is worth a fan add from my end as well.
Thanks for the fan add, I appreciate it.
Thanks for becoming a fan. Much appreciated! Best Wishes!
Thanks so much, Jason! You have a great voice and perspective on the tennis articles around here, and I'm grateful to have you as a B/R fan. I hope you keep up the commenting.
Thanks for the fan add Jason.
Hope to read more from you around the site.
Thank you for the fan add, Jason. I've always appreciated the insight you give with your commentary. Most of all, it's great to see you as a true tennis fan--your list of athletes is certainly validation of your appreciation for tennis and sports history.
Thanks for the prop.
