I'm not your typical sports fan.

When my favorite team does well, I don't jump up and down, fist pump and call all my friends to scream in their ear. Usually I just feel an overwhelming sense of relief. Not the type of relief that comes from a handful of Rolaids, but more like the relief that comes after finding out the results of your last blood test came back negative. The kind of relief that says "Whew! I get to live another day!"

Maybe it's because I've been following the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians for nearly 25 years. Maybe it's because my favorite teams have never really won anything for me to get all that excited about. Maybe it's because I'm an ex-athlete myself and I know that there's always much more to the game than you're seeing on the television set.

That's where I come in. My goal is to provide my readers with fair, accurate and entertaining stories that highlight a perspective of Cleveland sports that won't be found on a casual blogger site. I love to write about the players on the bench, the guys who are up-and-coming and the guys who fall just under the radar of the national media. Because often times it's those guys - the ones who are overlooked and undervalued - who determine the outcome of the game.

And like a good bullpen, they might not be the most heralded players, but they'll provide your team with instant relief.
