Interview Questions for Jay Cutler
05/25/2009
During college, I began my career as an Intern at Entertainment Tonight in Hollywood California at Paramount Pictures studio. After graduation, I was able to obtain the camera operator's position with KTSF News where I shot the 7pm and 10pm news segments along with promotions and the evening talk show. I was then promoted to the floor manager with additional shooting duties and ended my career as the tape operator in the newsroom. Currently, I am doing very similar work but on a much more creative basis with Mannic Media Productions of New York, I have been responsible for a variety of duties at Mannic, I do pre and post production work, assist with the office duties and even perform as the production assistant on shoots. As much as I enjoy this field that offers work with celebrities and special events, my soul still lingers with a feeling of emptiness. As a senior in high school, I was fascinated with media publications where I was active as a member of our school's journalism staff and lead photographer of our yearbook staff. Writing in journalism or visual media in photography were the two debatable majors I dealt with before college. I chose visual media because it gave me additional exposure to the new digital media world that I knew I would be working with. During my progression, I began to have second thoughts regarding the lack of voice in the industry and if I would be able to accomodate them. While considering my passion, education, experience, and in-depth topic knowledge, I am confident that my life is meant to provide the very voice and perception in a subject matter where others are not able to observe the way I do. Preferably in my expertise of sports. During my self evaluation, I brainstormed my current situation and where I would like my life to be and thought these exact words, (On movies and media work vs. sports and writing) "The art of movies and films is a subjective matter which results in subjective work therefore without a logical formula, I can not continue the work in visual media because I can not determine my own success and failures, only others can. Sports on the other hand offers a direct outcome of success and failure, the answers can be determined with research. Writing is an exact art utilizing the compilation of the most accurate words to describe your expression. With combinations of, the exact art and sports, I will be able to research and study the logical material and analyze the information to project my expressions." I am currently in the process of resuming my education in journalism, before attending the two year program to obtain my masters, a minimum of two years work experience is required for the program's admission at Columbia University and U.C Berkeley. I wish to gain that experience in your facility where I can provide you excellent work ethics, an open mind and a desire to learn, I am ready to engulf all thats necessary while focusing on writing.
