Weighing The Matchups: How Georgia Tech and Georgia Stack Up
11/25/2009
I'm a recently-graduated alumnus of Indiana University, with a degree in journalism and a double major in political science.
Sports reporting is what I had planned to do with said degree -- the economy had other ideas. So for the time being, I'm just counting down the days until the government starts adding me to the 8 1/2 percent and working as hard as I can to change that.
I spent last summer interning for MLB.com covering the Washington Nationals in D.C., and I covered the IU men's basketball team for the Indiana Daily Student during the 2008-2009 season. During my time on the sports desk there, I also covered IU women's basketball and baseball, and ran the desk as an editor twice. I was editor-in-chief for one summer too, since you can never have too many ulcers.
With what little spare time there is, I usually choose riding my bike over non-essentials like eating and sleeping. Thanks Little 500, that's a habit I'll never break.
On the serious side, I'm an aspiring sports journalist with a hand in everything and a desire to do even more. Someday soon, someone is going to develop a mega-engine that somehow combines Twitter, blogging, hyperlinks, RSS feeds, audio, video and something we haven't heard of yet into the greatest way to report sports, and I plan to be there when they do.
Until then, let's see what crazy stuff we can do with this business.
Why is it that Tech people keep talking about the absence of Bacarri Rambo? He is not a regular starter, it's always Reshad Jones and Bryan...
Zachary Osterman replied…
He hits hard, and he can make some plays. When you're facing an option team, you...
(This rivalry game might feature two of the best offensive-minded coaches in the country. Paul Johnson is one of them.) In case you were wondering, I've been writing a little bit more this week in honor of/in preparation for the Hate game on Saturday...
It's always a brutal day stress wise, and it' s exhausting to watch, as both teams usually give as good as they get. It takes me...
(How different would things be if we cut the 'Tech' off that jersey?) Recruiting college sports is a funny thing. It's a quirky thing. It's a science, but possibly the most inexact one...
I think the 7 1/2 point spread is about right. Turnovers will decide this game. Tech gets the edge because they don't turn it over.
Good stuff man, I liked it. When will the offensive team come out? I'd love to link to both.
Ben Gibson replied…
Thanks bud, it will be either tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on the time I get after...

Should Notre Dame come to the NFL for a coach?

I agree with Tommy. This will get ugly. Georgia Tech will just destroy them. But then again, they are from the same state so these games...
Good read Zach. As a dyed-in-the-wool Dawg, I must say that this game isn't one I look forward to. I know that, because it is Georgia...
this will get ugly, Tech 62 Dawgs 14
(Will Roddy Jones and his friends have a good day Saturday?) In the south, we take our football seriously. And there is no football more serious than a good rivalry. Bill Curry won 26 games in three years at Alabama, and he went to the Sugar Bowl...
(Josh Nesbitt will be looking to go 2-0 against the Bulldogs as a starter Saturday.) No Yellow Jacket football this weekend (not that I needed to tell you), a welcome reprieve, surely, for the battered bodies on Rose Bowl Field...
