Detroit does have a lot of holes to fill, but there wasn't any clear cut impact player at any other position. They needed to show the fanbase they are committed to a better future , i think this was a PR decision as much as football. They havent had a franchise player since Barry Sanders, they are hoping Stafford fills that void. He won't though i see another Joey Harrington situation
