From Dominik Hasek to Ryan Miller: Passing the Torch
10/03/2009
I'm originally from Lime Lake, NY which is directly in between Olean and Buffalo. Sabres and Bills fan since birth. I sat through the many years of the glory and pain in Buffalo sports without facing a heart attack, which is said to account for 88% of heart attacks (rough estimate) in Western New York.
With Jim Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Smith, Bennett, "Wide Right", and the four superbowls. The "Music City Miracle" and the terrible 2000's.
Hasek, Satan, Peca, Barnes and the "No Goal" in 1999. The loss on the slushy NC ice vs. the Hurricanes in the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals.
Some tough years, but Buffalo fans are the best. We believe our team can win it all any year.
Passionate (and crazy) chest painted fat men sit in the freezing stands while snow falls.
Sabres fan's are heard in opposing teams ice. Particulary in the RBC Center, Sabres fans outcheer the so-called "Caniacs".
I moved to Raleigh at 16 and finished high school. Then I went to school in Providence, RI, only to return to NC in Charlotte this time, and finished college at Johnson & Wales University in Sports Management.
While in Charlotte I worked for the Bobcats communications department during the season, and edited a website covering the 'Cats with player quotes and game recaps: kylesrichardson.wordpress.com.
I also covered and wrote for the website charlottehighschoolfootball.com, providing all Charlotte metro varsity football coverage for FOXCharlotte.com
I've recently relocated to Upstate NY.
Check me out on FanHuddle.com this fall, as a Bills and Sabres columnist; and as a website writer for NYJets.com
Also, check out some of my work and websites:
