About

I've been a Wisconsin resident and a Packer fan all my life. I was one of the "lucky" fans in attendance at the Ice Bowl in 1967. I was a teenager during the Lombardi years and was fortunate to witness an era when Green Bay dominated the NFL.

Having enjoyed the Packer glory years of the 1960's made the next 25 years hard to take. When Mike Holmgren, Brett Favre and Reggie White led a return to glory in early 1990's, it felt like all the bygone memories came back to life. The old hardware seem to shine a bit more when Brett and Reggie waved that Lombardi trophy in victory in New Orleans in 1996.

I played football in high school. I started out as a fullback. A knee injury slowed me down and forced me into the offensive line my sophomore year. I also played linebacker on defense. I think I appreciate the difficulty of executing plays on the football field more than people who never played the game. Many seem to think it is easy. I don't. It is exciting to me when I see good fundamentals and good execution because I know how much practice it takes to do it well.

When I was younger I was a sports writer with the Stevens Point Journal and Eau Claire Leader Telegram. I shifted away from sports writing into news writing and then as I got older I moved away from journalism completely in pursuit of higher paying options in other fields.

But I've always enjoyed writing and I am enjoying getting back into it more now. In addition to football, I am a big NBA fan. Check out my basketball blog at BasketballHoopla.com
