Bobby's Bio
Chicago is the place I call home and the Cubs are my team. I really don't think I need to say more than that, but I will. I love baseball, ergo I love the Cubs. As much as I do enjoy watching the football and other sports, baseball is my biggest passion.
I am a big Bears fan. I root for the Bulls whenever I find myself watching basketball. But baseball is second to none.
I go to school in the Pacific Northwest of all places, where I attend Pacific Lutheran University. I suppose I ended up here instead of at a Big 10 school simply because they gave me a lot of money, since I had already planned to attend either Purdue or Wisconsin. But that's life, things happen. At PLU I do play-by-play for the baseball team and at 9 pm every Monday I debate baseball with Mariners fans on PLU Student TV, which can be quite interesting at times.
My biggest inspiration is my girlfriend, Kathryn. She makes my life more even as I suffer through the hardships of being a Cubs fan.
That's about it.

Most Memorable Game Attended
Boston Red Sox vs. Seattle Mariners on Aug 26th, 2006. Only because I met some awesome dudes who had great stories about their life, the game itself was quite irrelevant. You pay $7 for the center field bleachers and end up talking about one's life with complete strangers, that's baseball for you.
Most Unbreakable Sports Record
Cy Young's 511 wins or Pete Rose's 4256 hits. For single season record, I'm going to have to go with Hack Wilson's 191 RBI in 1930.
Ruth or Mays?
Willie Mays. I can honestly say that there is no player that will ever play centerfield like Mays did. Ruth was a better hitter, and he was a great pitcher too. But Willie Mays was Willie Mays.
Unitas or Montana?
Sid Luckman
Pele or Maradona?
I-a do not-a kick-a the ball-a! But I do like Pele, he was pretty awesome.
Jordan or Gretzky?
I cannot chose one, honestly. Gretzky was one of my childhood heroes, but anybody from Chicago knows that MJ is MJ.
Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?
Big 10 all the way.

Also, I was wondering if you could check out my Chicago Cubs article and give me some feedback? Thanks.

Hey, for your Cubs Pros & Cons articles, I recently found game pictures on chicagocubs.com, and if you haven't been using these pics, some of them are good and would make a piece about the Cubs against a specific team more enticing with a game pic from that exact game/series. Keep up the good work, I'm reading pretty much every article you've been putting out, keep up the good work.

I hear the Cubs might be selling to a Cuban? ;-)

Yes, lots of negativity lately and the whole Marty Brennaman thing casued some of it. He just hates the Cubs. It was petty and unprofessional to me. As for me, I got on them about our lefties and then Rich Hill pitches a nice game for once.
You can call it negativism, and maybe it is, but I still don't think the Cubs are playing well against the better teams. Yes, they're beating up on the Pirates but are only .500 or less against everyone else.
There's a lot of anger and bitterness amongst us older Cubs fans, Bobby, becauase we've gone through so much heartache with this team. But we've got a good team so we need to get over it and enjoy what we have.
Hey, here's an interestingidea - you send me 1/2 a piece on something good associated with Chicago / Cubs, and I'll add my half and we can submit it from the both of us! I'll figure out how to do that. That would be cool. What do you think? If you agree, just e-mail it over to "rememberthecoop@yahoo.com" & I'll take it from there.

Hey Bobby. As community leader for the Cubs page, let me first of all say what a terrific job you do writing articles for BR, especially your Cubs articles. Very well written & often very insightful. I read each and every one.
Since you are my #1 Cubs writer, I'd like to engage you in some ideas of how we can make this community even better. I've identified the main writers - yourself, me, Harry and Kevin, and we've recently added some new talent in Emmett and Jason.
What I'd like to do is a couple things. How about we develop an idea for a group article? for example, I was thinking we could do a 'who wins each MLB division, wild card, playoff series & world series? Perhaps we could have one writer each take a divions they want to work on. What do you think of this idea?
Also, I've got the go-ahead to start up a contest with the winner receiving one of those cool BR shirts. I'd be interested in your ideas on a possible Cubs-related contest?
Finally, I'll be searching the site each day for articles that don't belong on the Cubs site (ones that are tagged inappropriately). your help in pointing these out to me is appreciated. I'd also like to know your e-mail address if you don't mind. Keep up the great work!

You look like a good new Chicago Cubs writer. I was looking into a Chicago Cubs roundtable and was wondering if you would be a part of it. If so, could I get you're e-mail so that I can send you the questions?

Wanna know my take on Marmol? I have him in all three of my fantasy leagues....and I never bench him haha. As far as Wood, I think he'll be good once he gets his legs under him. I definetly think the lighter workload will help him loads though. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the add

Welcome aboard Bobby!
For starters, I'd recommend taking a look at the Cubs page and commenting on some of the articles. I think you'll find that the bedrock of a strong community is lively discussion in the threads.
Thus in addition to writing, where I'd really spend your time is weighing in with your honest opinions on all things Cubs while also complimenting the other writers and encouraging them to keep submitting their work.
Make use of Bulletin Boards as well—get to know the other Cubs writers and suggest article topics, give them feedback on their work, etc.
Let me know if you have any further questions Bobby. Thanks and best of luck to the Cubbies this season!

Hey Bobby, thanks for the add. Nice use of "Theodore Roosevelt Lilly" in your article--I guess you could say he walks softly, but doesn't carry a big stick.

Thanks for the add Bobby. We are starting a community of writes that each focus on a club and mine will be the Cubs. So if you're interested in being a part of that community, I'd encourage you to let Zander know and he can set you up, since its in its infancy stage. But we're looking for writers with a passion for the Cubs. Thanks for your consideration.
