My name is Michael Schuerlein and I am best known for my Islanders website www.islesblogger.com which is in the New York Islanders Blog Box. I have been writing about the Islanders since 2007, and I am a life long Islanders fan. I have also played hockey for a majority of my life - and continue to play in several roller and ice hockey leagues throughout the year.

I am also currently a Photographer and Contributing Writer for two automotive websites, www.truckblog.com and www.musclecarblog.com, and I have been published in several print automotive magazines.

Despite my involvement with the automotive websites, I am not a professional journalist - I am just an Air Conditioning Mechanic who happens to enjoy writing. The automotive stuff was just a hobby that grew into something I never thought it would - much as hockey has taken me along a similar path.

I was approached by Bleacher Report and asked if I would like to be the Islanders Columnist, I graciously accepted the invitation and hope to bring the community many great hockey discussions.
