I graduated from the University of Southern California in 2007 with a degree in print journalism, which gave me a field pass to the Reggie Bush-Matt Leinart era. My most underrated experience was covering USC's run to the Sweet 16.

I've worked five years as a full-time sports writer at newspapers in Santa Barbara and Monterey, where I got the chance to cover three U.S. Opens (2008, 2010, 2012), as well as too many rodeos. I am a social media, blogging and digital journalism enthusiast. (Follow me on Twitter @KevinMerfeld.)

I have spoiled golf roots. My high school home course was Spyglass, and I caddie at Pebble Beach. I love playing and watching golf, but I enjoy baseball, basketball and football just as much. And I wish I was a better soccer fan.

    Thanks Will. Went through a TNT team trial yesterday, so I got to write about a little of everything. Fun experience! Hopefully there's a place for me at B/R in the future.

    Thanks for becoming a fan, Kevin! How are you liking B/R? By the way, I really enjoyed your piece about Lochte and Phelps. It's been awesome watching the trials, especially anything in the pool because there's a bunch of swimmers who went to Cal (where I went!). Anyway, thanks again!
