Five Keys To the Athletics' Short-Term Success

Nathaniel Stoltz entered 2010 as the #1 ranked writer in Bleacher Report's MLB section. He surpassed 100,000 views on March 4, 2010.
He is one of B/R's Featured Columnists for his favorite team, the Oakland Athletics. He is also a fan of the St. Louis Rams and Golden State Warriors, despite the fact that he has spent most of his life living in Virginia and has never been to St. Louis or Oakland.
Nathaniel is a baseball fan first, and an A's fan second, however. He is focused on analysis, not spin, and gives as thorough a treatment of a subject as any writer on Bleacher Report. He uses a lot of statistics in his articles, but tries to distance himself from the arrogance of some sabermetricians. His 150th article on Bleacher Report (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/317162-heres-a-thought-how-do-we-look-at-the-game-of-baseball) explains his views more thoroughly.
Nathaniel is a junior at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, majoring in technical and scientific communication. He was named to the President's List for academic excellence following the Fall 2009 semester. He aspires to either work in sports journalism or in some sort of baseball operations capacity once he graduates.
In February 2010, Nathaniel accepted an offer to become the first lead blogger at ChickenFriars.com, the San Diego Padres site in the FanSided network. If you have any interest in the Padres, he posts there many times a week, and welcomes any comments and feedback over there.
Outside of sports, Nathaniel is a passionate fan of heavy metal, particularly progressive metal. He plays the electric guitar and the keyboard. His favorite band is Dream Theater.
Nathaniel also enjoys playing basketball, sports video games, and Guitar Hero/Rock band in his free time.
He also apparently enjoys writing his bio in third person.
If you have any need to contact Nathaniel outside of B/R, he can be reached at no.more.quad.a@gmail.com.

Nathaniel,
I had the opportunity to check out your interview with HotStove--great stuff, man. I too, had the opportunity to chat with Tom and Paul. It was a fun experience, huh?
Anyway, I just wanted to say that you're doing an excellent job in representing the A's. I really enjoy reading what you have to say.
Also, congrats on the 100,000 reads! That's awesome.

Inspired by J.R. Richard, I decided to choose one player from each team who's number deserves to be retired. Take a look when you get a chance, and let me know what you think.
