About Michael »

Born and raised in West and Northeast Philly, I have been a devoted Eagles fan since I outgrew the Phillies in the early 70's. I was a month old when the Eagles won their last championship. Moving to Florida in 1980, I suffered in Eagles drought until DirecTV and the NFL sunday ticket brought salvation. Since 1994 I haven't missed an Eagles game, and I have also seen the Birds play in Jacksonville, Tampa and Miami. Now with the Interweb, I can follow the Philly papers as well.

I am a practicing real estate and corporate attorney in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am also a semi-professional writer on cars, tech, and now sports. My website is at www.mjposner.com and my publishing house is at www.mjposner.com/mas.

Eagles are making moves on the defensive coaching front, hopefully it doesn't mean anything but..

I agree for two reasons. First, the receiving corp they have now is actually quite good and I expect a big year. Second, and more importantly, name me one team that won a Super Bowl due to a star receiver. Owens was the best receiver in the 2004 Super Bowl and the Birds did not win, Firzgerald was the best receiver in the 2008 Super Bowl and the other birds did not win. Moss was the best receiver in the 2007 Super Bowl and the Patriots did not win, yet they won three Super Bowls with only adequate receivers. Great QBs win Super Bowls or great defenses, not great wide receivers.

The Eagles don't need that "big name" receiver they always talk about. Finally, there's enough weapons on offense for McNabb where we might actually see a position battle at wide receiver. If you have time, I'd love to know what you think. Thanks.
