Shenika Sherress Jackson was born on November 5th 1978, in Chicago Illinois on the South Side in the Englewood Community. Raised by a single parent, Shenika was always determined to learn, and expand her knowledge. In 1996, Shenika graduated from Tilden Community Academy, ranking number 8 out of 212 graduating seniors. At first, due to military experience acquired from high school in the JROTC Program, Shenika set her sights on going to the military. Due to community violence within the Englewood Community, and wanting to stay to support her mother financially, Shenika decided to go to college. In 2003, Shenika completed a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Psychology, making the Dean's List, and excelling as a professional student. Shenika would move on to acquire two more college degrees to include a Master's of Arts in Psychology (2005), and a Master's of Science in Written Communications/English (2009), from National-Louis University. For 6 years, educating Chicago Public School students was Shenika's vow to returning to her neighborhood, giving students what she recieved, a good quality education. Currently, Shenika works as a Case Manager for military veterans for a non-for-profit agency. In 2013, Shenika plans to publish her biography, capturing the good and hard times of growing up in Chicago Illinois in the Englewood Community.
