I'm a life long Browns fan living out west.
Hello again - thanks for the kind words - my site I'm afraid needs updating - too busy writing Browns coverage - but you'll see from links at the ends of my articles when I'm posting there too.
Well---yes, there is a story. I'm a Navy brat but both of my parents are from Virginia so I grew up a Redskins fan. Then my first boyfriend was a Redskins fanatic - so I really started to pay attention. Then I fell in love with football. The 'Skins are still my first love.
I started doing office pools and got good at it. A friend suggested that I start a subscription service - so I did. But then I decided that I liked analysis and commentary as much as picks - so I closed the service and decided to open my own blog (barbaras-football-buzz.com) Then I applied to write for B/R last summer. The writing sample I sent just happened to be about Colt McCoy. They liked it and apparently decided that they needed me to write about the Browns. So I've dedicated the last year to learning everything that I possibly can about them.
Now that I know them, I'm a fan. The problem with writing about sports is that you find you are cheering more for individual athletes that you admire than for teams. (For instance, I'm a Peyton Manning fan but not necessarily a Colts fan). But the Browns as a team appeal to me and I have become a fan as well as an analyst.
Probably way more than you wanted to know. :)
Hi Dylon - Thanks so much for becoming a fan. I appreciate it.
