I focus on a lot of golf and nba coverage. Have you considered applying for the B/R Sports Writing Internship? When you said that you wanted to write about a variety of sports that's what I immediately thought of. I did it a few years back and had a blast. It was challenging, but incredibly rewarding as both a learning experience and just feeling tuned into an array of sports at one time.
