I grew up worshiping the ANAHEIM Angels and the LA Lakers. People ask, "Where were you when Obama was elected?" but I'd rather ask, "Where were you when Robert Horry made 'the shot'?" in the 2002 Western Conference Finals against the Sacramento Kings.
I also like to vividly recall the Angels' 2002 season, their rise from the absolute pits of the baseball gutter to the unexpected postseason fighters. I remember being able to walk up to the ticket office and get decent left field seats, before anyone else knew the potential of the team. Once 2002 was over though, games sold out left and right. Now it's rare that I attend a game, but someday I'm hoping to be covering games for a site or paper.
While I'm not a fan of the Dodgers, I have a tremendous amount of respect for their fans and their unwavering loyalty to the team. Vin Scully never fails to draw me into a game, with his random, endearing anecdotes about baseball. And don't even get me started on Dodger Stadium. That place has this different aura... like baseball heaven on earth, and we're all lucky enough to be able to still take it in.
