About Gordon »

I remember being five or six years old and every night before bed my father tested me on the schools in the major conferences, Big 10, ACC, SEC, Big 12 and Pac 10. As I grew older and we watched games together he would ask me where a certain player went to school. This only scratches the surface of what was sports-obsessed home and family.

Needless to say, I have been a sports fanatic since I can remember. Hell, I even played them all too. Growing up in the household of a career Naval Officer I used sports as a cross-cultural way to connect with others. I developed my athletic ability across Europe, spending most of my time on the soccer fields in Italy.

While lettering in four different sports in high school, I focused on developing my soccer skills and earned a scholarship to play at Virginia Tech. Before my career ending injury, I learned first hand about everything playing major D1 athletics requires from an athlete.

I was shown a different side of athletics when ESPN/ABC Sports came to broadcast the football games in Blacksburg, VA. I was captivated. Sports journalism had to be my career path. So, I decided to switch majors and was lucky enough to have prolific and profound sports author Roland Lazenby as a professor and mentor. Having covered sports across multiple media platforms such as Radio, TV, and the Internet- I believe I offer unique perspectives and thought provoking works on the world of Sport.

My editing internship has ended but anyone who enjoyed my edits and wants more input please feel free to post to my BB and I will try to get to your article asap. Thanks for the great feedback everyone, it was a pleasure! Cheers
