Ken's Bio

My name is Ken Armer. I’m a 22-year old college student currently residing in Waco, Texas. I am an NHL Community Leader here at Bleacher Report along with Bryan Thiel, Alan Bass, and Derek Harmsworth. I also serve as Community Leader for the Dallas Stars. While at Bleacher Report I have also served as an editing intern and Community Coordinator for the NHL section. Other accomplishments to date include several articles featured on CBSSports.com, as well as interviews for television and radio.

I am more than willing to look over an article or lend help to anyone who needs it. Just drop me a line at karmer@bleacherreport.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1987, my love of hockey began at age 8 when I attended my first game with my sister who lives in Dallas. The game featured the Dallas Stars and the Vancouver Canucks. I fell in love with the game immediately. Within a year, my father and I had a new bonding activity and he began tossing money left and right so that I could learn to skate, play the game, and sign up for a league.

I played hockey in Kansas City back when the Blades of the IHL were around, and had the opportunity to learn hockey from several of their historic players. I was fortunate to have amazing coaches who taught me the values of the game on and off the ice. In addition, my father and I often watched games together and were always adding out own colorful commentary. His passion for the game made me love it even more, which may be me why I hung up my skates after his passing in 2002. The game simply wasn’t the same without him.

Since that time I have played hockey on several occasions. Thanks to my father I can read and analyze with the best of them. My favorite teams include the Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks. The game is in my blood, and I could not have found my passion for the game without my dad. Thanks Dad, I pray that every article I write has a piece of you in it.

I want to thank everyone at Bleacher Report, especially Zander, Bryan Thiel, Alan Bass, and my editors. You guys make writing for Bleacher Report a blast. Thanks also go out to all my readers and fans, I always appreciate your feedback and comments. Additionally, thanks also go to Alyssa. You some how support my odd obsession with Bleacher Report. You all help make me a better hockey fan and writer.

  4. Hey Ken.

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked it. I wish a man would have stood up and said something. I almost hesitated to write it in fear that it would be "from a whining female's perspective," but I did anyway because I just couldn't take it anymore and several men said something about it as well. :-)

    Roll Tide,
    Cameon

  6. Dude...I honestly don't know...

Maybe it's the Stars, and that it's just not hot content-wise right now? I'm not sure. I liked them anyhow (always have).

I'll just make mention of it now (although I do trust you to do this) I know the guys running the F/C program want us to shy away from game recaps, so maybe more stuff like "Ken's Corner" and give more opinionated pieces may help getting stuff flowing again.

Your best stuff was always when you broke away from game recaps anyhow and just wrote...
