Ken's Bio

My name is Ken Armer. I am a 21 year old college student who resides in Waco, Texas. I am a Community Leader for the Dallas Stars, an assistant community leader for the NHL section along with Bryan Thiel, and a former editing Intern for Bleacher Report. I am more than happy to look over an article or add help to one, just drop me a line at karmer@bleacherreport.com and ill get back to you.

I was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1987.

At about age 8 I attended my first hockey game thanks to my older sister who lives in Dallas. It featured the Dallas Stars against the Vancouver Canucks and from that moment on I fell in love with the game. Within a year my father and I had a new bonding activity and he was tossing money left and right so I could learn to skate, play the game, and sign up for a league.

I played hockey in Kansas City during the time the Blades of the IHL were around, and got to learn hockey from several of their historic players. I also had amazing coaches who taught me the values of the game on and off the ice. My father and I often watched games together and were always adding our own commentary and comments. His passion for the game made me love it more, which may be why when he passed away in 2002, I hung up my skates.

The game wasn't the same without him. I have since played hockey several times. Thanks to my father I can read and analyze with the best of them. I am a huge Anaheim Ducks and Dallas Stars fan. Either way, the game is in my blood, and I could not have gotten the passion for the game without my dad. So thanks dad, I pray that every article I write has a piece of you in it.

I would also like to thank everyone on Bleacher Report who is a reader, fan or helps me with all of my work. Thanks for sure go out to Bryan Thiel, and Chandra Zorr (for all your editing advice). Thanks guys, I wouldn't enjoy working on articles half as much if it wasn't for you.

  1. And another week of college football is in the books! Check out my top 25!

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/65792-college-football-power-rankings-week-six

  2. Can you please edit my new peice.

  3. ya I'm looking forward to see if its just the pre-season or if their gonna be able to score this much in regular season

  4. Hey Ken, shameless self-promotion here, but for some reason no one wants to comment on my story, I thought it might spark some interesting discussion:

  5. Hey Ken.

    Thought I would update you:

Sean O'Donnell was traded to the Kings.

I know you don't cover the Ducks anymore, but it's in your wheel house.

  6. Just promoting another one of my Q&A's...sorry

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/64001-michael-wagners-chicago-blackhawks-qa-series-tim-sassone

How are all things Dallas stars? Still reeling from the Blackhawks loss in the preseason...hahaha!

    Michael

  7. Luke Schenn looks outstanding but I want him to stay in the WHL this season, and Pogge is really looking poised. Aside from that, we're a mess. It's really going to depend on what time of month it is if we decide to play for 1,2, or 3 periods haha.

Question for you: How do Brunnstrom and Bobby Ryan look?

    BT

  8. Hey no problem Ken, Cole is a legend, but he's past his prime.

As a Canadian I can tell you that the CBC isn't exactly very progressive when it comes to their braodcast standards (content is a completely different story) so the fact that even they are trying to push Cole into retirement shows he has lost a step.

Generally what you will find is that Leaf fans love Cole and the rest of the country respects his years of service but thinks it is time to go.

  9. Eh, I barely watch the preseason--mostly follow it in the paper--but yeah, our blueline is putting the puck in the net so far, and the goals scored on us were 'cause we had lots of scrubs.

  10. Wow, what a week in college football! Sure made coming up with a Top 25 interesting! Check out mine:

  11. Hey Ken-

As the new community leader for the Los Angeles Dodgers, I wanted to drop by and say hello. I see you have a lot of great history here and appreciate your time is limited with the NHL season starting up.

But it is also playoff time in baseball, and I would appreciate any articles you can pen on the Dodgers and their chances. I've been asking members to write as to how they think the playoff roster should be constructed.

I look forward to seeing what you think.

    J.C.

  15. Hey Ken,
Just a comment/observation, since I like getting constructive criticism, and I'm sure you do, too. I really did not like that live game log that you did...it seemed choppy, jumpy, and uninteresting. I think it would be much better if you just did a post-game recap or analysis, as you are brilliant when you write analysis on something NHL-related. I just don't think writing that while watching the game is going to get many reads or much interest.
Let me know what you think,
    Alan
