"Like me, you could...be unfortunate enough to stumble upon a silent war. The trouble is that once you see it, you can't unsee it. And once you've seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. Either way, you're accountable."

  1. Hi Alby - I had an exchange with John, who edited the post and erroneously removed the link to Sid Lowe - he's apologising all over the place for his mistake. Glad to see Sid getting the recognition. His weekly Liga column is always worth a read.

  2. Thanks man... Much appreciated.
However, I wont be writing anymore articles untill after i return from my vacation. Just wrote this one to see how far up the ranking list i would go. Chelsea's activities have been fairly quite this summer anyway so there is not much to write on....

  3. It's fast becoming a hot topic... let me know what you think.
    Thanks.

  13. About the ARG X BRA well it was the first 0-0 in about 24 years.

Actually if you go back that far you`ll get to a famous dry spell where BRA was without a world cup win for more than 2 decades ending in 94 and perhaps we are in one now.

The scoreline reflects an overly cautious ARG playing against a BRA in totally disarray.

BRA footie is in shambles right now as the big names are really lazy to give their all as they try to protect their million dollar legs and the new talent is just really not up to scratch. ARG have Messi we have nobody.

Pato needs to have a big season in the coming months. A replacement for Romario has not been found. Ronaldo was great but still needed space to run to goal as his roots are in futsal. A true master of the box has not been found so far and this is something that also plagues the team as player after player is tried.

Another issue is that everything is being prepared for 2014. Hence many young players are being called but like I said Anderson is NO Messi that`s for sure.

This 2014 strategy troubles me very much as I fear when the CBF does start to take things seriously it might be too little too late.

All of this could change tomorrow if some great 17 year old pops up but for now the mood in BRA is one of nervous apprehension as we watch ugly football and enter matches with fear of losing.

From an ARG point of view I say they should have gone for the kill. Recent heavy losses probably were still stuck in their minds however and the draw seemed to suit everyone.
