I am a lifelong Eastern Pennsylvania resident who has always dreamed of being a sportswriter. There is not a Philadelphia team that I don't pull for. While I love ice hockey more than any other sport, I live and die with all of the Philly teams. I am proud to say that I have passed the same traits on to my 9 year old son. He can't understand how anyone could root for a sports team that is not from Philly (you have to love the naivete of youth!). I love to take him to hockey games. I have a time capsule in my mind that is filled with moments that have occurred at hockey games when we were together. Is there a better moment in life than the one when your 9 year old gives you an excited high-five after your favorite hockey team puts one in the net? I think not.

The only pet-peeve I have is fans who do not respect a good piece of writing just because it does not apply to a team that they care to root for. I am open-minded enough to read and appreciate an article about any athlete on any team. Almost everyone on this site is like-minded. I guess we just can't give much credence to single-minded folks.
