Dean's Bio
As long as I can remember, sports have been a big part of my life. I learned to read at age four so I could read the back of my baseball cards. As a kid, I lived and died with the Baltimore Orioles and Dallas Cowboys of the 1970s and early 1980s. In College I worked in the Sports Information Office at James Madison University and then spent a year interning with the Philadelphia Eagles and Richmond Braves. I then spent 15 years as a Sports Information Director and Assistant Athletic Director before leaving the sports world. But, sports is in my blood and I've created my new blog -Sports Then and Now- as my attempt to analyze the events shaping today's sports world through the context of how they relate to the history of sports.
I also am enjoying the opportunity to write about the Baltimore Orioles and other baseball news for BaseballReflections.com as well as writing my observations about the Orioles and other sports for Bleacher Report.

If you have a moment, I'm still determined to put the word out on this kid:

If I'm wrong about him, oh well. If I'm right, I'm really smart.

Can you imagine why I'm not THE featured columnists for the Mets? I'm only posting here now as you know nothing new or exclusive to the BR. Everything that goes to you or Fan Huddle first appears on my blog. The BR has disappointed me greatly. I have been very unhappy with the changes and I now see that many of their best writers have gone elsewhere. They got too big too fast and lost their core. Shame.

The NY Yankees and the media are trying to manipulate you.
Yankee propaganda must be exposed as lies and crushed before it can spread any further.

Thanks Dean! I was unsure about those ellipses, and second guessed myself afterward.
I really enjoyed your piece!

Check this out. I like watching the O's play. They have some good young talent, but this year, yeah, about that, it's pretty much over. It's no sweat though, noone went into this year expecting the O's to compete; not even the O's themselves. Here, I predict what the O's will look like in 2010. They look pretty darn good, IMO.
